I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it...

I'm so excited for next weekend's game, I can't contain myself.  I was kinda hoping MSU would stay undefeated to make it that much more interesting.  I would expect Gameday to show up for this one.  I don't know what other big games are going on, but this is a rare occurrence to get both Michigan BigTen teams undefeated (moreso b/c MSU won't be undefeated this late generally).

I have several friends visiting, planning on tailgating all morning/afternoon, and thankful for a 3:30 start.  Some of these guys are Spartans, which will make it awkward when we pummel them.  Although we don't have tickets yet, I'm gonna have shell out asking price at this point which will probably run $200 each from what I'm seeing.

I hope this week flies by.  I know I'll be checking this board even more times per day than I already do for insight, breakdowns from this past week, and general surliness regarding our defense.

I don't know why I started this thread.  Just to share my excitement with everyone after watching DRob destroy Indiana, our defense hold steadfast in the second half, and sense that Michigan is back baby.

I agree this is going to be a HUGE game for both but as far as being "back".

Not yet , being "back" is winning this game and beating OSU and winning the Big 10 for us to say that.

Cool story bro.  MSU makes Indiana look like a team of donkey's I don't know why everyone is so confident that we're going to beat Michigan State.  They have a much better defense then people give them credit for and their offense can put up points with the best of them.  I'm just praying that we slow the game down to keep the defense off the field as much as possible to give us a chance.  With Denard we're always in the game, hopefully his knee is solid.

You're right:

MSU will be a much tougher test than IU.  They have more talent on both sides of the ball and are better coached.

That said, I think we can turn in a better performance than what we had today.  Even the offense had some struggles against a bad D.  Plus I gotta think we're a better home team particularly with all our youth.

I expect the next game to be very similar to what we say today hopefully we're on the right side of the shootout.

Yeah this is going to be a tough game. The defense is going to have to play waaaayyyy better than this week. But football is a game of chess. The advantages we have on them? We're at home, and the crowd is probably gonna be loudest it's ever been. Another advantage is that they played Wisconsin so it's possible they'll be more banged up. Just show up, wear maize, and scream your ass off when we're on defense.

We have an offense that can score from anywhere in one play! The offense is never going to slow down. It is tough for me to embrace also but this is not our past. We will never have a big work horse back and grind the clock while RR is coach. This isn't your daddies Blue! We just need to get some defensive player the next 2 years and wins will bring them. But this year we have to win these shootouts one at a time.

I'm glad your excited.  That's cool.

But I'm with Oracle on this one.  I am very uneasy about this game.  MSU beat Wisconsin today even with their early mistakes.  Sparty seems to stay in games and has the ability to make plays.

One concern is that I think MSU's linebackers will play much better than IU's for instance.  I'm not sold on the idea that those open throws in the middle will be there against Sparty.   They certainly won't be as easy to run on as IU or most of our previous opponents.  Can we beat them?  Yes.  Denard is that awesome, howeva this will be a nailbiter IMHO.

The real problem with this game is that we really won't 'be back' if we beat MSU.  It's more of a just one rung on the ladder to getting back to where we want to be.  MSU is simply not an elite team.  If we lose, it will be a visit to the Pain Train Station.  It will be hard to be around the Sparty faithful should they win.  So in some janky way, this is a 'please dear God let us win' game.

Some good points.  On the other hand: Think about how different things would have been for us today if Denard had better touch on those deep balls.

Those will be available against State all day long next week. Their secondary isn't any good.  Linebackers are better thane we've seen, but I think we'll still be pretty effective.

in 3 years, but I will be at this one.  I can't wait, but I am cautiously optimistic.  I do believe Indiana has better recievers than MSU, but MSU is a much better team.

UM had a few chances to blow this game open, but didn't.  I think the team will play more inspired next week, and I expect a great game from both teams.

This is the biggest game of the Rodriguez era this week.  I am really fired up too.

He needs to win a rivalry game and we need to beat a team that is perceived as Big Ten physical.

Interesting comment.  I am thinking that every week from here on out seems to be the 'biggest game of the Rodriguez era' because each 'win' brings us closer to a bowl game return and having him around longer.

That said, the natives might be very uneasy if MSU wins.  So yeah for now, this is the next 'big' game untl Iowa comes to town.

back.  MSU is undefeated, is one of our two (or three, if you count ND) rivals, and is physical.  If we beat them, we would be beating a rival we haven't beaten in three years.  And it would mean we go to a bowl game.  Please, God, let us beat tOSU, but we beat MSU, with our defense, it would make a statement, and the momentum would push us to at least one other win.

when that Pointer Sisters song is in a movie? We have a damn good shot at beating MSU. However, dismissing Sparty would be a grave mistake. They are a good team, but they play the style of football that we defend better. Denard will have the offense rolling.( Maybe not as much as today)

We should all remember that a final record of 7 - 5 will be significant progress over the last two years. 8 - 4 or better would exceed a lot of people's expectations. Based on today's performance it looks like no win will come easy (except for maybe Purdue). Personally I'll be happy to see this team get to a bowl game and look forward to 2011.

I share youre excitement about next week's game, but don't let your Sparty friends buy any tickets from Michigan fans.

In fact, I'll say this to all Michigan ticket holders: Do NOT sell your tickets to MSU fans. Go enjoy the game, and BE LOUD!!!

I'll be interested to see if MSU is ranked ahead of us in the next rankings. I can't wait for this game. I probably won't remember it, but I would love to see us clinch a bowl game against State. I noticed today that Cam Gordon looks better and better each game. I just hope our secondary is growing up quick.

Little chance of Gameday coming to AA next week.  Herbie needs to be in the vacinity to call the late ABC game.  USC vs Stanford and Miami vs Florida St are the two late games on ABC.  They'll be there despite this being the best game next week.

Very excited w/ what Denard is doing out there. But realistically speaking we have no more than a punchers' chance next week. This defense can't seem to stop anybody...
