How can the Detroit News allow asshats like Jerry Green to stay around?

This is the kind of crappy content that the news allows to go out, yet they complain about the journalistic integrity of bloggers. If Jerry Green had actually been paying attention to college football this year, Texas BEAT Oklahoma soundly on a neutral field, but did not win their conference due to a spectacular play by Texas Tech on the last play of the game. Green spews his half thought out ideas, and I'm supposed to buy this garbage?
The Utah's and TCU's of the world would have actually had a shot at a national championship game in a playoff system. University Presidents don't want a playoff because the major conferences have a vested interest in a system that guarantees handsome payouts for their schools.
College Presidents talk about the affect of additional games on their "student athletes" but have added meaningless games over the last decade to the regular season, Eastern Michigan anyone? How about college football removes a few of these cupcake games from the regular season schedule in preparation for a short 8 team playoff, with all the games still played in the Traditional Big Bowls. Hell, the execs can still put on their other crappy bowls. I'd rather see USC v Oklahoma or Florida vs Utah rather than Florida vs. Florida Atlantic earlier in the year.
Again, Jerry Green spews incoherent logic to prove nothing, and to actually prove everyone else's point. Yes, there is a lot of money at stake and ESPN is heavily involved in college football, but it is not the responsibility of ESPN but the responsibility of the conferences and colleges to do what is right for college athletes. In other words, don't hate the player hate the game.

Jerry Green uses an awful lot of dependent clauses in a single sentence for any form of writing anywhere, let alone a major newspaper.

He doesn't even know Texas beat Oklahoma?!? Wow! Highly qualified to spew about college football! Are there not editors anymore? Quality work Detroit News!

Because there are still people who read his stuff and even link it on other websites.

Jerry Green's articles will be in print until he drops dead. He sued the Detoit News before for "age discrimination." They're stuck with him until he's six feet under.

I did like this at the end:
"Jerry Green is a retired Detroit News sportswriter. Read his Web-exclusive column every Sunday at detnews.com."
I wonder if they even link it on the page, and if Green knows.

My favorite line is when he mentions Boise State is untied.
Jerry Green thinks tie games are still possible in college football.

He often made frequent reference to Bo and Lloyd's frequent usage of the "T formation."
