Castleton picked Michigan over Illinois, but he was also mulling offers from Florida, Florida State, Xavier, Clemson, Purdue and others. He’s a fringe top-100 prospect who saw his stock rise significantly this summer.
Rankings:
- 247 Composite: #116, four-star
- Rivals: #120, four-star
- Scout: #70, four-star

"Castleton said that Beilein and the Wolverines envision him as a stretch-5, able to force centers out of the paint and guard Castleton as a perimeter shooter."
That's the shit I like to see right there.

he's mo wagner. i still think painter is losing sleep trying to figure out how to D-up this team.

If he can stretch the D on offense and protect the rim on defense, then this about the most ideal combination for modern basketball.
This would mean that his 3-point shot and strength will have to improve, but between Beilein and Sanderson, those two things are just about holy locks.
Welcome Colin!

Yep he has the potential to be a perfect 5 for the modern game. If he can work on his lateral quickness so that he can play tough pick-and-roll D then he could anchor by far the best defenses Beilein has had at Michigan. Not sure I could think of a better 5 archetype for a Beilein team.

last year he could go 0-30 for a few years and i still wouldn't want him fired. character matters more than all the other concerns, and he's got it in spades. love the coach. glad he's getting some hot recruits. hope a few dirty programs get shut down and all the better for the good guys like beilein.
go blue.

Have met Coach B. a few times and he is a classy man. He always stops and takes the time to speak with me and my son. I wouldn’t want my son to follow any other coach than him.
Go Blue!!

Same experience. Good as they get.

Nice, Coach'em up JB.

Coach B develops these recruits. Integrity and perhaps the best teacher in college bball. Also kudos to the assts who are no doubt raising the level of recruiting. Go Blue!

Excellent player. Welcome!

He looks like he has a ton of upside. He looks like he has the frame to put on a decent amount of weight. Once he gets into Camp Sanderson for a few years, watch out. Beilein teams are SO much better when they have someone who can protect the rim, block shots, and pull down rebounds. DJ made such a difference this season. Hopefully, CC will develop quickly.

we had a coach who wasnt losing sleep every single night worrying if the NCAA or FBI would be knocking at his door like MANY coaches and recruits ARE...oh wait!
October 4th, 2017 at 12:02 PM ^
This class is shaping up pretty special. Well done, Coach B!
October 4th, 2017 at 12:22 PM ^
Anyone else excited because:
1. We haven't had a true shot blocker in the Beilein era
2. If he develops into a great defender, the Castle memes will be endless
October 4th, 2017 at 4:41 PM ^
They could make a nice tandem.

Noice

Wouldn’t want any other coach in the country other than John Beilein. Michigan basketball has become consistent and entertaining. Hopefully the next guy can pick up right where he leaves off

a couple caris levert injuries prevented this team from having an excellent 7 year run; still pretty damn solid though.
October 4th, 2017 at 5:43 PM ^
Shot blocker sounds like the young man has a lot of upside for Michigan Basketball.
October 4th, 2017 at 5:57 PM ^
at first i was thinking this could be the starting 5 in a couple years, however, knowing how quickly guys develop under JB, a couple of these guys may be in the nba in a couple years.

Look forward to seeing you play!!!
