Honest Question: Did Devin Gil start to make a statement?

Submitted by Tate on
McCray was mysteriously absent the first two drives, which allowed three sophomores from the same HS in Florida to make a start on a nationally televised game against their home state. Seems like a stretch, but I don't seem to think that Gil got any PT the rest of the game, and we have heard zero about him in the off-season so I don't think he was really in the two-deep. Conspiracy, conspiracy, but I thought this was really interesting.

Mccray was seen hobbling on the sidelines before the game idk if he tweaked something in pre game or what

you see Marshall tracking the play from the backfield practcally gassed as the camera follows the action and re-emerges in the picture in the nick of time to recover the fumble qlong the sideline. I just thought it was great effort and reward for an obviously winded big guy. Never gave up trying to make a play, and he did.

Well that'd be a captain move on McCrays part to let them... To allow them to start together for recruiting purposes and general content, and to throw off FLA. Served many purposes. I imagine to land Bush Harbaugh had to make some concessions too and little things like this go a long way in petty recruit circles. But I flip, and doubt it was that at all.

on the D-Line, "starter" only meant who played first, not necessarily who was best. How much difference between Ryan Glasgow and Mo Hurst? Glasgow was the senior and had more game experience, so he played first. Did he play more than Mo? I don't know, but I would have to believe their PT was very close. In this case as well as others, "starter" did not necessarily mean a better player, or if it did, the difference was slight.

No wonder 2107's players are miffed when they keep hearing they played behind "starters" when as often as not they played as much as those who played first.

For the record, you are correct about Hurst being a virtual co-starter last year, but he mainly came in for Godin at 3tech. Glasgow was an amazing beast that rarely left the field, and never seemed to tire. After Mone went down, we had no good NT backup and the team and fans should not forget his Herculean efforts.

Not entirely true...when you are sick you want to push fluids to help circulate your body fluid through the lymphatic system as much as possible so the white cells can attack whatever virus or bacteria you have that's making you feel sick. If he has been sick, fluids before the game would be a definite need considering the obvious dehydration factor in playing for three hours. Definitely not ideal condition for playing anything, I agree.

Regardless it was pretty cool to see the Dirty Birdz all line up in the same backfield, starting in a national TV game under the bright lights.
