This game was something i thought would never happen at michigan. Even with the regime and offense change I never thought we'd have the season were about to have. The way things stand Northwestern looks like they would be a good test and a competitive game for the maize and blue. In two words: THIS BLOWS.

im not losing hope, i still think it will eventually turn around this year and back to greatness in the future but I just couldnt help wondering what LC, Mike Hart, Charles woodson, edwards, or any other previously successful michigan player was thinnking during todays game.

Again, things will be great sometime in the future but for now.........? Im at a loss....

It was the first game, sure it may be a difficult season, but Utah will probably end the season with 10-11-12 wins and their offense is one of the best we'll play, if the defense can play consistantly like it did in the latter parts of the game, we'll be good for at least 6 wins.

However, also worth mentioning is the fact that Utah probably would have scored a few more points before the 4th quarter had they not shot themselves in the foot 99 times.

utah shot themselves in the foot in every quarter. they had so many stupid penalty yards. also, either utah is way overrated or we are better than we think because for all this gloom and doom speak we were able to keep up with them once we settled in. the d-line was good either way

last years first game was was worse but at least the offense could move the ball and and score more than 10 points without the help of a million mistakes by the opponent. And if im not mistaken the team still had a chance for the big ten title.  Thats not happeneing any time soon.

If you've never seen a Michigan football team struggle to move the ball before, you must have become a fan sometime after 2001 and must have been out of the country last November.

He should think "God, I'm sorry I left the cupboard so bare of experienced players on the OL. And that the OL guys I had, I let turn into tubs of goo that felt compelled to quit instead of suffering at the hands of an actual S&C program."

If the coaching staff can get the line to run block a little, everything will look better.  Freshmen QBs are going to suck.  (Remember this when you think Beaver / Forcier / Newsome will be a cure all next year.)  But having a running game to take the pressure off of them will help greatly.
