Hollis cancels upcoming selection committee road trip, returns to MSU

Submitted by LS And Play on

You would have to think more information will be coming out regarding last week's allegations.

Tourney sel. chair Mark Hollis has canceled his 2-week CBB road trip due to obligations as Michigan St. AD that require him to be on campus.

I was curious about this situation because it has been so quiet, so i looked at RCMB. Please neg me for that because that was a horrible decision. There were posts about how we lost a lot of talent and shouldnt be tough to beat, we barely beat them last year and it was only due to players that left for the NFL so we shouldnt be a threat this year. Congrats on being able to sift through the garbage and be able to translate something for us. What I saw I can only assume was a different language that uses english words but they all have other meanings. Otherwise nothing on that board makes any sense.

If BleedMaizeBlue jumped off a bridge, would you do that too?  You say you "had to" check it out, but you really meant you "wanted to" check it out.

We expect better judgment from you both.  And for you to make your own decisions rather than just do what your friend does.

Also, you're grounded.

Yes.  Yes I probably would.

This is how I began the long, dark road towards inappropriate use of cowbell.

I KNOW in my mind that there is a time and a place for it, but my HEART always tells me I have a need for it.

I know, I know...I shouldn't listen to pushers and give in to peer pressure.

But tell me honestly...could YOU say no to this face?

The commentary aside, that is just an awful, archaic website with the screen dancing up and down and pop-ups going off all over the place. People who complain about this site should check that out.

I wouldn't normally go there and I wouldn't bother with anything related to UM but I did want to see if there was any further information about this particular situation.

I have been following high school football in Metro Detroit for decades (since I played) and have been reading about some of these guys for so long it starts to feel like you know them.  So when I saw a couple of local kids are rumored to be involved I have been following the situaiton on the RCMB board.

I have been debating on whether to put up some of the information on this board but decided not to put up any information about the kids because it feels wrong until there is official public information available.

Blackwell is a grown man though and RCMB has already made the info about him public so I figure my post above is ok.

I just ventured over there and saw this headline.

2018 MSU plan-A DB target Gervin commits to Notre Dame
At the end of the year when they miss out on their "plan-A" targets do the writers actually give a letter grade for the recruit? Imagine being a recruit and seeing an article after you commit saying, "Plan F recruit commits to msu."

I was wondering about this. I saw the thread that got nuked except for noting that a coach had been arrested in front of players. There has been nothing about that on MLive or in the Detroit News. If it happened it is now a matter of public record so why isn't there confirmation on the event and the identity of a coach who was supposedly arrested?

Nothing good in this whole situation.  Hopefully it turns out to be much less of a thing than some of the rumors are suggesting.

The irony around SMSB guy being involved was one of the first things that crossed my mind.  Hopefully, if Blackwell messed up, SMSB is established enough in Detroit that it won't be impacted.  That is a great organization.

is really, really odd is that seemingly nobody knows if any of this stuff is related to any of that stuff, or really just what this stuff is.  The amount of local "radio silence" on this issue is really puzzling.  I cannot tell if that is because it is nothing or because it is a VERY BIG something.  But a lot of local radio personalities and sports writers have not gone any where near it.  You can't tell me that seriously nobody in Detroit, radio or print, has any clue what is going on, but I have not heard anybody discuss it, like at all.

Between this, the Payne and Appling deal, and the Max Bullough issue, it's like Sparty has some mafia style tricks to keep things on the down low.  In this day and age, how can you keep things so hush-hush?  It's like everybody supposedly knows what happened, but it gets dropped for some reason.  How much hush money can possibly be coming out of E.L.?

The Green Curtain is a real thing, but never to this degree though.  The fact that nobody really knows who is suspended and what coach got arrested at a team function, and for what reason, is nearly unprecedented.

Well.....I'm not really convinced that anyone was arrested.  The Detroit News article last Friday made it sound like nobody had been arrested yet.  Also, having sifted through that, er, discussion myself, I did find one salient point buried deep in the RMCB muck: if the said coach / staffer was suspended, how was he at a team activity?
