Hockey Night at Yost: OSU @ Michigan

Submitted by rob f on
Michigan leads OSU at the end of the first period 2-0. I just stumbled across the game in the closing seconds of the 1st, so I don't have many details. OSU is on a power play as the 2nd period begins.

Will be in town tomorrow for the game. Sad that the basketball game starts at 6 otherwise we'd go to both. Forget the name of the hotel we're staying at but it's very Michigan themed and seems right up the street from Yost. Where's a good spot for a couple of late 30s early 40s people to catch the beginning of the basketball game before heading to Yost?

So the white sweaters actually look really nice. Why did they botch the blue ones so bad? Yellow not as bad but definitely not as good as they've been in years past.

Wife and I took our two sons to "The Game" in 2015. (Bad outcome) That night, my oldest(Now 14) and I went to Yost for a hockey game. We had such a blast and the energy from the students and fans was awesome. This was my first time at Yost as getting to AA is challenging from Iowa He just walked by and says,"Dad, I want to go back to Ann Arbor and goto another hockey game. That was awesome." Go blue!

lol did anyone really think the hockey team was going to win this cleanly at 5-1?

Knew the score was going to be more like 6-5 by the end of it all. No defense. What defense?

I confess I've barely seen any M hockey this year but is the defense seriously this bad? Feels like OSU just skates to the front of the net unimpeded every time they enter our zone

Michigan and Detroit both win 5-4. Rare as it is that both struggling teams get wins on the same night, it's time for a celebratory Hopslam.

Man, those first two periods looked like a different team.

We played with chemistry for the first time all season tonight. Even in the 3rd we had chemistry.

Lavigne is responsible for two of those 3 allowed in the 3rd, but he also prevented one that decided the game with an amazing save.

It's very nice to win. I'll enjoy this one longer than I normally would for a conference game in February since wins are so rare this year. Hopefully we play the same tomorrow and get the sweep.
