Product of Michigan visit this weekend, JR PF Ricky Doyle (Bishop Verot) is now a Wolverine.

A bit of an under-the-radar recruit since he didn't play AAU ball, but according to ESPN had offers from tOSU, Miami (YTM), Purdue, and Notre Dame. Has been sidelined for a decent portion of the season due to ankle injury, IIRC.

Video from UMHoops here.

Been watching him for a while.  He may not be done growing; his dad was 6' 11".  His dad also played pro ball (in France) for 11 years.

Really happy for Rick and his parents.

Yet another quality player and person for Coach B.

Welcome to the Michigan family, Rick!

Go Blue!!

We need a person who can REBOUND this small lineup got is killed yesterday...if we could have somehow limited their offensive rebounds we win by 10 but nope nobody can grab a damn rebound....

Michigan needs more players like Doyle - a big yet mobile kid who can rebound.  At 6-9 and 230 it looks like he could easily put on 20 pounds of muscle.  Once again, the coaches have done a great job identifying good players early before they start to get the attention like Doyle now is.

The problem is we don't know if he can actually rebound until he gets to the Big10 season. We all thought McGary and Horford and Morgan would be great on the glass this season but it seems like every team has killed us on the offensive glass. We're really not that small of a team anymore. Those three are huge and GRIII and THJ can jump outta the gym but we just can't seem to rip them down. Dennis Rodman was one of the best rebounders ever and he was only 6'7" or 6'8". It's about mentality more than size and our guys don't have it down yet.

Congrats to Ricky Doyle. This is awesome.
Doyle will be excellent in coach B's system.
My only concern is the stress fracture, coupled with Doyle be a large human being. Since Beilein has been here, we've seen Cronin's career end before it got started, and the development of Horford, Bielfeldt, and McGary retarded by foot, knee, leg issues. Makes me wonder if year round Bball is a bad idea for young Big Men.

Mr. Doyle! Glad to have you aboard!

We have a ton of graduates/leave early threats, so we need a big class. Trey was under the radar too, at first.

so I'm betting this guys gonna be good. Last few times we've gotten in on guys early who seem really good but no one's heard of them we ended up with guys like Smotrcyz and GRIII who both rocketed up the rankings after committing

He has some great post moves, and not just the typical "I'm bigger than you" moves you normally see in HS. (And don't tend to translate to College well) He's got a nice post spin, hook, up and under, etc and he can go either left or right while in the post. He'll only get better (and hopefully slightly bigger?), but a 7'2" wingspan already is very good. A great pickup.
