Remember that BS article that talked about Meyer probably winning the bulk of recruiting battles against us? I'd say it'spretty near open season in the state of Ohio.

Looks like OSU fans are going crazy over their new TE commit from Cali instead of talking about Gedeon.  This even though the kid is ranked behind Butt, and not in their own state.

I realize Jake Butt is ranked higher than Baugh in some sites, but I can assure you that Butt was never high on Urban's list.  Butt visited and had plenty of opportunities to receive an offer from Urban but it never happened.  Baugh, on the other hand, received an offer without having even visited.

I am tapped into OSU recruiting (being a hardcore OSU fan) so I know a lot about Jake Butt, and not much about Baugh, so I can't speak as to what Urban saw in one that he didn't see in the other.  But I guess coaches go by things other than what Scout or Rivals say (imagine that!)

Congrats again on Gedeon, though.  Like I said earlier in this thread, this was definitely a kid that held a commtiable offer from tOSU and one that Urban wanted.  Not a surprise to see him choose you guys (11W had been calling this one for you guys for some time) but still stings, etc.

Hahaha, I swear we exist!  I know we have some idiots that give the fanbase a bad rap, but we're just a diehard fanbase very similar to yours.  It's what makes the rivalry so special.  We're not a basketball fanbase like MSU.  We eat, drink, breathe, bleed good ol' hard-nose football.

I think Baugh fits more of what Meyer wants in his TE's. He's a bit smaller than a traditional TE, but very athletic and a good pass catcher. Butt fits into what Hoke really wants because he has the frame to also be a forceful blocker in power running schemes. One of those times where different staffs are looking for different things.

Great pick up! He was the second most wanted linebacker that I wanted right behind E.J. Levenberry because he's from Ohio and he had an osu offer. Hopefully E.J. pulls the trigger during the spring game for the last spot.

Thank you.

Now gentlemen - I know that it's lame when Buckeye fans make excuses on their blogs after we get commits, but it's equally lame when half our posts say "I bet the Bucknuts/Urbz are gonna say _____ but it's totally wrong cuz our guys are awesome!" or "let's go over to eleven warriors so we can read them saying all the things that piss us off!"

They're gonna be upset when we get a head-to-head recruit, and not all of them are gooing to be mature about it, just like some people around here when it happens the other way around.  Drop it.

There's no reason to put words into the mouths of OSU fans.  They'll either react as you say, in which case we can read and smile knowing that we are correct or they'll own up to losing out a good recruit that they wanted and we can be happy that they recognize the pain just inflicted upon them.

Let's get a Declaration of Independence style roll call of signatures going!

The meme is already getting a bit old. I'd like us to be happy about the players we get more than happy that we robbed another team of a player they wanted. Ultimately, the players that commit to Michigan are going to play like Michigan players and not like players of the programs of our rivals. They are going to develop differently and be different players. Let's enjoy the guys we get.

I think we get the number 1 class if we get Isaac, Treadwell, Levenberry, Poggi, Mathis, Cravens, and Devon Allen, Massington.  I think Poggi, Levenberry, and Isaac will pull the trigger pretty soon, but we will have to wait until the fall for the rest.

Shane confirmed that his offer is from Alabama. According to 247 that would give him offers from Auburn, Alabama, and Michigan State among others. He also said to Tom "I don't report any of them," in reference to his offers he's received. There goes OSU fans argument that "Morris is overrated, look at his offer sheet."

And this may be obvious, but if Urban fails in Columbus or if Urban has a really terrible record against Michigan, there will be books written about his time in Columbus and they will all say that one of his primary failings was allowing top Ohio players to escape the gates of fortress Ohio. Specifically, escape north to Ann Arbor

After having not a ton of a success in there under Richrod, we've already snatched away Kalis, Gedeon, McCray, Jake Butt, Strobel, Bolden, etc, etc. Those are significant pieces to our '12 and '13 classes and I doubt we come away with even half of those guys if Tressel is still around

Yep those would be the types of guys I was inquiring about.  Griese and Woodson are the oldest guys I can remember actually watching live.  Haven't really looked back into the 90s at where guys came from though and didn't know Grbac was an Ohioan.  Here's to hoping someone asks a similar question in 15 years when MGoBlog owns the internets and WolvinLA3 responds with Hoke recruiting such historic figures as Dymonte Thomas and Deveon Smith.

Haha, not trolling here, but just wanted to ask the obvious question that comes to mind when I read Michigan fans making this kind of joke about Ohioans:  You do realize that most of your beloved Michigan men (and a lot of the recruits you hold dear--including Gedeon) hail from the great state of Ohio right?  Haha, just seems like if Brady Hoke were on this board, or Bo Schembechler, (I could go on), they would not find that kind of humor so humorous?  Just curious.  Congrats again on Gedeon.
