Hats off to Zavier Simpson!

I’m still on a emotional high, but what is being lost in all the celebration is the amazing job Zavier Simpson did guarding Gray. Gray was having his way with anyone else guarding him. I believe he was 8-22 from the field. Great job controlling a player who dropped 39, the night before.

I read that Gray was a "high usage" guard.  Watching the game, I realized that that was just another word for "ball hog".  It was almost like watching a middle school game w/ the one player taking all the team's shots.

I got to give it to the refs for one thing. They didn’t call fouls on us when gray was throwing is body around trying to draw a foul on basically all his drives, other than that they sucked tho

Nice to be able to lean on the defense.

I attribute stagnant offense vs Montana to rust. Yesterday I think Houston's D was the culprit. Our guards had no angle to penetrate. Obvsiously, we need Z and MAAR to break out. Love our chances vs NC with the long prep time.

Houston was playing pretty good D, but Michigan also airballed 2-3 wide open threes. Also, every time a Michigan guard drove they got to the rim. Once it became apparent the three shot wasn’t there, and that the refs were calling a foul every time a guy drove the lane on both sides, the strategy should have (and did, by the end) changed.

Good point, but I think thats true of MAAR and not Z.

Z needs to attack the paint. If not, he's not very useful on offense. With Livers being mostly invisible, Mo struggling, and before recently Matthews being ice cold, we cannot afford to have Z play passive. Can't wait for sweet 16 game. Feel like Michigan hasn't even shown up for the tourney yet.

He definitely did the best of the group on him. Houston's other players stepped up and were better than anticipated....plus officials calling everything. Both good and bad for us.

However, need him to get back offensively to the pg. from BTT. No secret...him, Ham (lol), and Mo gotta be better. All 3 were pretty bad on O both games.

He's a great defender but I hope the North Carolina game doesn't come down to him not being able to hit two free throws in a row. GO BLUE !!
