Hate Mail and Tweets

Submitted by KSmooth on

The Detroit News is reporting that Devin Gardner and a lot of other players are getting hate mail and tweets:

This shouldn't have to be said -- folks, if you find yourself seriously tempted to send an angry message to a player, don't. It won't help them and it won't make you feel any better either. Enjoy the wins, let go of the losses.

If being a fan makes you miserable, you're allowed to just not be a fan for a while. Go ahead, leave the party. Just be discrete about it. If you can avoid making an idiot of yourself on the way out, we'll almost certainly let you back in when the team starts winning again.

This is the culture you create and you personally help to propagate with all of your ANGARY ("but seriously, just 'venting' guyyyyssss!") posts, fellow MGoBloggers.

So now you see why some people want others to just tone it down a bit?

I have to think most of these idiots are not the type to read, well, anything. As others have noted, if you have a burning desire to send hate to college kids, slam your fingers in a door a couple of times and see if you still have that desire.

i don't think you have to worry about that from the readership here.  Tend to be more well-informed.

That said, that kind of ignorance is pretty disappointing.

Totally disgusting, frustrations should not be taken out on these guys.  It's ridiculous to think that any of that will make things better.

This makes me sad on a whole new level.

Disgraceful behavior, people.  In the words of Rich Rodriguez, "get a life".  Pretty damn unbecoming to tweet this to the players who are working their tails off.

That is absolutely sick (in the bad way in case it needs to be said). Writing to the coaches and Dave Brandon is one thing though even there civility should be maintained because if people are obnoxious their sentiments will be ignored anyway. Writing to the student athletes directly is just wrong unless maybe you are trying to be positive but even then do you really need to write to them directly? Yeah this is bad.

It doesn't make sense to send hate mail. It doesn't matter if they are pro or not. It's just a game. However, these kids are being paid and better play hard. There are athletes on this team that will not contribute to one single victory, but will still receive over 250,000.00 dollars. This talk about college athletes not being paid is dumb.

This is what buckeye fans do! They also set cars on fire, but I wasn't able to snap a shot. Have some restraint and leave the players out of it. If you taking it personally, really???

Also, don't leave your house...EVER. I don't want to be associated with people such as yourselves.

I just saw the Daily article about this, and they're posting some of the tweets, with account owners' names and avatars. I am truly embarrassed for these people, whether they're Michigan fans or not. These people are the lowest part of society - the uneducated, the moronic, the imbeciles who deserve to be cast out. I hope they all get some kind of retribution for this.

the next thing you know, some supreme ass-hat

is going to blame it all the teams's problems on Devin's acceptance of the 98 jersey

and Taylor Lewan's finger stache and twosie!
