Hardaway or Morris

Submitted by Ziff72 on

While I don't think either are ready and both should come back that is not the current reality of the NBA.  The NBA draft is now more like baseball.  Draft on potential and wait 3 years.  While I love both, I think Hardaway has the bigger upside as a pro prospect.  While everyone is talking about Morris probably coming back and then leaving next year, I could see Hardaway leaving next year as well.  Am I out on a very remote wing here or does anyone else feel the same? While Morris may be more imoportant to Michigan I think Hardaway has a more NBA style game.

Regardles of your stance I think we can all agree that we hope their parents make them stay.

It's just my epinion but athletic wings that can score are a dime a dozen in the NBA, legit big PG's that are true points are quite a bit rarer.

I don't know - Timmy is just scratching the surface.  There is a reason that all of those athletic wings are in the NBA, and he has a good chance to score 20+ per game next year.  Athletic, quick player who can drive and is a phenomenal pure shooter?  Yeah, that's what NBA players look like.

Morris is big, but he's not that same level of explosive athlete.  He has to learn to go left and most importantly work on his jumper.  He can't hit 3s, let along long 2s.  His D is decent, but it's hard to know how it projects at the next level when he's facing Paul, Williams, Rose, and Nash every night.

Love them both, hope they play here forever and do great in the league, but THJ has better pro potential.

Morris could turn out to be an entirely mediocre NBA player, but his size at PG allows you to play undersized SGs, giving him value similar to a guy like Jeff Green (who has been incredibly average so far in his career, but is still valued because of his ability to defend both PF and SF).

I'd rather they wanted to stay on their own.  If their parents make them stay then they are less likely to be "all in" as if they chose to stay because they wanted another year with this team.

I agree that Hardaway has more potential though.  And I think they both leave after next season.

I think it's a little bit too early to tell.  Both guys are coming off their first year as college starters (although Morris did play 23 minutes a game as a freshman)...Hardaway is MILES ahead of where Morris was as a freshman.  If he makes a leap next year that even approximates Morris' leap from freshman to sophomore year, my guess would be Hardaway would be a much higher projected NBA draft pick.

I think the NBA drafts on potential if a player has the potential to be a superstar. Below that, I think the league chews kids up and spits them out if they aren't ready to play their first year.

I love them both. But I think Hardaway mave have more potential. I need to see THJ's sophore season before I can say for sure though. My hope is that they dominate next year and have a long run in the ncaa and if they don;t get to a final four they both decide they are hungry and come back to finish the job.

I remember hearing rico beard on wdfn saying that THJ has reached his potential and that appling will be a far better college player, which I think is complete bullshit.
