I don't know if it's a pride thing that Jim wants to handle the offense or what but as many have stated, maybe an elite offensive coordinator needs to be hired and maybe Michigan needs to stop beating their heads into a wall. With a talent like Patterson coming in next year, you would think that the offense would be catered to using his talents like how the offense was made to allow Denard to do his thing back in 2011 or whenever it was. (Jim shouldn't have to handle this and I'm not sure Pep and Drev are the guys to see a change like this all the way through.) I mean, is there actually a true and proven offensive coordinator on the team? Yeah Jim has a ton of experience playing and head-coaching but I don't think Pep or Drev are or have ever been great at it at any of their stops. Also, you cant play manball if you don't have the horses up front and the runningbacks to run people into the ground. I love Higdon but he just isn't that force. This team has it's work cut out for them but if no changes are made offensively or with the staff, I pray that this team hits the weights hard as I always preach. Huge gains there with this years experience could be all it takes next year to start knocking the good teams off finally. Lets hope I'm right on something.

I dont know whether to be happy or sad with his comments..Seriously...I feel like hes a good coach but has absolutely NO results and a whole bunch of games that have been just HANDED away..seems like we just keep finding  new ways to implode since hes been here so again I dont know whether to be happy or sad that hes not going back to the pros.

Weird predictament...B4 Peters threw that Crucial pic in the endzone how many of you were saying..Heres comes the Pic?  I mean its like I just KNEW it was about to happen? WHY? because the least 4 years it ALWAYS happen when we need a big play..TURNOVER

I don’t think he’s a hot commodity right now. That’s being purely objective. This season was his worst coaching performance of his career. A lot has to do with the assistants he brought in on offense but that’s one of the most important things you do as a head coach. Frye wants smaller, more agile lineman for a zone blocking scheme. Drevno wants big, physical traditional lineman and wants to run between the tackles. Generally Harbaugh wants the same style as Drevno. Then Hamilton wants to open it up with empty backfields and throw on more downs...even when weather conditions are horrible and your QB can’t throw. Harbaugh bringing those guys together the way he did was not just a mistake, it’s an aggregious miscalculation. It’s inept and something you’d expect from a guy who’s inexperienced and in over his head. It would make more sense if he thought Drevno was getting a job elsewhere and then something changed once he brought in Pep. They either need to get rid of both Pep and Frye together or Drevno. Drevno cannot be paired with either of those 2 again next season or there will be similar results.

Coach still has my support. I do believe he needs to make changes with his offensive coaches. I also think he knows it. Look how the defensive players rally around Brown - Drevno just appears emotionally detached from his players which may also speak to his inability to recruit. I think we will learn some things by the end of this week, just my opinion - no inside knowledge

Being the boss means you’re going to be faced with a multitude of tough decisions, and you need to do what’s best for whatever it is you’re managing. This means parting ways with good people or friends sometimes if they aren’t getting the job done. Drevno is a good buddy of Jim’s, but he isn’t cutting the cake. He can find someone to come in and run the offense, and hopefully one who will be aggressive, unpredicitable, and one who might use that section of the field referred to as the middle. We are falling behind (again) in the big ten, and it sure as hell isnt getting any easier. There is time to stay ahead of the masses and gain ground, but now is the time to do something about it.

Don Brown has a 95-45 record as a head coach. Just at a d3 and fcs level. Plus at 62 i wouldnt expect him to be a long term solution but rather a caretaker for a few years while we develop his replacement.

Fair enough. Im just talking about if harbaugh were to leave for the nfl this week then don brown as a 1 year interim wouldnt be a bad move either while put on a real search. Worked for osu with fickell and meyer. And i think way more of brown than fickell

The problem I have is that we seem to be very inflexible on the offense side.

It's like the OC staff think they have the the best playbook know to man and are sticking to it no matter what.

We never introduce plays for that team or that opponent or the current situation.

Other teams have learned that our D rush is great, so they run screens.

Our offense is like "we are going to run what we run no matter who is across the ball".

The same tired plays that only work once every 10 times - shouldn't you stop running these?

the coaches need to keep simple base plays because the team is so young and inexperience that they cannot even come close to running their full playbook.  But these base plays are so predictable, opposing Ds just eat them up plus we do not have a QB who can constently complete passes down the feild.

He needs to fire drevno and hamilton and then go hire brad salem and mark staten from msu. 1m in salary to each of those guys ahould be enough to get them to flip.

I’m not trying to run Harbaugh out of town. I’m being objective about his performance this year. Offense never found a groove. QBs regressed. Playcalling constantly was head scratching. Team lacks identity on offense because the cooks in the kitchen all want completely different meals. The best way to rationalize this is he wants his boy Drevno but not his scheme...so he’s trying to have it both ways and it’s impossible to make work. Harbaugh has to make a tough decision. There’s no way he can bring back this staff next season.

Dabo has a lot better record than Jim and only one bad season. He had the team develop every year and actually in his first year he won the division. So stop making excuses and doing this stupi comparison with every coach. Jim has failed and he is smart enough to know that. If the team went 6-6 but played lights out every game then i would be om with that. This team has shown nothing but fail every game and getting worse.

His point was that it can take a bit to build your program. Looking at Dabo’s record now is better obviously, but it wasn’t through first three seasons - which is exactly the point. Not even going to respond to the 9-5 ACC Atlantic division win as being super meaningful with a 7-6 FSU.

This is the same fan base that bags on Beilein. I’m good with Harbaugh. You guys can circle jerk if you desire. It’s your right as fans. I’m excited for next year but I firmly believe team needs to become far more creative on offense. You need an Alabama level of precision to execute this offense. This is not where we are from an experience or personnel perspective. We also need a quarterback that is leader with swagger. That make something out of nothing guy. This season sucked for sure. But I’m honestly excited for our future. So get it out of your system - you have that right. But Harbaugh is going nowhere and I’m excited by that knowledge.

Probably the closest name, yeah. I’m not sure he’s better - was OK at Pitt and has done well at Wisconsin but playing in the West is a huge advantage. 2015-16 seasons are nearly identical records. In any event it’s debatable. And I’m not sure he’d even come here (UW alum and grew up in Wisconsin).
