Harbaugh reaction/Late afternoon Overflow Thread

Other thread's getting a little cluttered. On the plus side, it's Friday and drinking sounds much more appealing than getting dong-punched.
Within the realm of reality, where do we go next?

Michigan offered Harbaugh $5.2/year?  Anyone know where he's getting this number from?

Also, I guess any debate as to whether DB was serious about moving the HC's salary from the "middle of the pack" to the top is over...

So ... three years ago, Michigan lost out on its first two coaching picks. This year, they already have been rejected by their first choice. In between, Michigan has been beaten into submission by the vast majority of the Big Ten. With all due respect, what makes this an elite team, and an elite coaching option, anymore?

Well, we don't know whether DB offered the job to Fitz or anyone else (beside JH, presumably). Requesting permission to interview a guy is hardly a job offer. And who knows whether Fitz or NW leaked the "news" for selfish reason. I wouldn't doubt it. Michigan wouldn't have leaked it. DB's request was stupid for PR reasons. And DB does appear to be stupid. But still.

Why is it that Miles, for all his recruiting skills, hardly ever fields top-tier or even memorable quarterbacks? The biggest one I can think of is Jamarcus Russell. Then a bunch of virtual nobodies. Flynn. Davey. The clowns currently on his roster. Just a bunch of nothing. It's almost bizarre.

The post that noted that the Michigan job might not be so elite anymore due to the unwarranted media coverage, etc. may be very true.  The job is tough enough without having a bunch of incompetent sports writers constantly give public job ratings on a job they know absolutely nothing about.

I know that the flip side of this is that that comes with the job regardless of where you are at.

Still, I wonder about Brandon's management expertise.  Usually if you have an employee who is really good at parts of his job but lacking in one area, you work with him to improve his performance in his weakness.  Why didn't Brandon tell RR he can keep his job but that he was going to hire a competent defensive staff for the football program since that seemed to be where a lot of the problem lay?
