Harbaugh outlasts Meyer - the tribe has spoken

Submitted by Indy Pete - Go Blue on December 5th, 2018 at 8:35 AM

Harbaugh outlasted Meyer.  He never has to apologize for this.  If haters try to come at you saying Harbaugh never beat Meyer - remember that Meyer did not have the cojones or physical strength to last a 10 year war.  He quit at 4 years - perhaps seeing that ultimately going 4-6 would literally kill him.  Harbaugh has integrity and the advantage of not having his health being destroyed by a guilty conscience resulting from repetitive public lies. Harbaugh outlasted Meyer, Meyer didn't have what it takes to have a 10 year war. Meyer has a legacy of lies, deceit, corruption and winning at all costs. I am thinking and hoping that Harbaugh will have a different legacy when all is said and done...

At first I was gonna chastise the OP..then I realized there might be 3% of merit in it, that part of Meyer's leaving was going out as undefeated vs Michigan, knowing he'd probably lose next year without Haskins... but then I came to my senses....  I still won't chastise the OP, because I know why he wrote this... he is pissed as I am that we won't have another shot at beating that snake....

I wouldn't even give it 3%.

Meyer has beaten us with every QB he's had.  He's an elite, egotistical, Type A coach.  There is no way in the world that he thinks he can't beat us without Haskins.

And he's probably right.

that part of Meyer's leaving was going out as undefeated vs Michigan, knowing he'd probably lose next year without Haskins.

People said that about Miller.

Then people said the same thing said that about Jones.

Then people said the same thing said that about Barrett.

Sigh.

I still won't chastise the OP

I will.  I just wish these threads would stop.  It makes Michigan's fanbase look foolish at best.

Face it.  tOSU is a machine.  They've beat up on Michigan for almost a generation now -- there are young fans who don't know what a Michigan victory looks like.

The waterboy could fucking quarterback tOSU under Meyer and still win the B1G.

Who the fuck is the tribe? Urban owned Harbaugh and Michigan during his stint at OSU. Also, Urban has been at OSU for 7 years so Harbaugh hasn't outlasted shit yet. Also, suggesting that Urban left because the "writing was on the wall" about M-OSU over the next 6 years after OSU just whipped the shit out of M is one of the most baffling takes that I've seen on here.

We have sunk to a new low.  What indication do you have that things will be different enough to beat Ryan Day in 2019, let alone Meyer?  Let us not get a false sense of security that all those elite players on OSU's roster only performed well because Meyer was there.  There is alot of work to do to close that gap regardless of who their coach is.

Yeah, especially when, back in 2001, they hired a little-known small college coach from Bunghole, Ohio and he went on to pummel Michigan and the rest of the Big Ten for a decade to the tune of a 94-22 record, 6 Big Ten titles, and 8-1 vs UM. (Wikipedia).

But we can always refer to Luke Fickell for hope...

This is the most idiotic OSU post I have ever seen (which is saying something).  Tressel was not an unknown quantity, he was already tight with the local bagman.. who was also on the BOT at YSU, go figure, corrupt culture much? and who also did time in prison (not for anything to do with football, I think it was fraud).   Tressel was already buying YSU players out of high school and he brought his winning formula with him to Columbus where it continued to work well.  Under his watch, there was no attempt to play school, as they invented classes such as Volleyball officiating, which no players were required to attend, just as the bagmen invented fake jobs they didn't have to attend.

Look, be happy with your winning record.  OSU football is run very much like a professional organization more than a school, and I'm sure everyone in Ohio knows it and is fine with it.  Trying this cute "underdog winning" angle is laughable.  Almost more laughable than trying to defend Meyer's honor.  He's a scumbag with a winning W/L record.

Meyer did not quit. He was forced out. Plus, he will always have the last laugh, going 4-0. This is a dumb thread.

EDIT: Please give us the option to vote threads again. This thread deserves to be negged into oblivion.

That is fair. I did make a mistake saying that he quit. He was forced out for reason -  yet it was unequivocally his fault that he was relieved of his duties.  I can understand all of the negativity about my post. And I credit captain crunch particularly for calling this spin! (Hey, sports banter is generally 90% spin - look at nearly every sports show).  However, I stand by the fact that it is not Harbaugh’s fault that there will be no 10 year war. Truth and integrity matter, and that has an impact even on football coaches.

Also,  I am posting here to allow people to hit me with neg’s because that is part of what makes the blog fun.

I stand by everything I said except for the Meyer quitting part - that part was inaccurate.

Looking forward to brighter days in this rivalry and anticipating Coach Harbaugh’s will lead us there.

Shit post. Bitch slapping and hanging 62 on the "#1 D" in the country and you think Urbs was worried about the next 6 years? Not to mention with 2-3 times as many top recruits every year as UM gets. Get outta here.

Long time reader of the Blog, but this is the first time I've ever posted. And I created an account this morning just so I could reply to this ridiculous post. With that being said, this post might be the weakest I've ever read on here. You come across as a big, whiny baby. Grow up. Get in touch with reality. What a futile attempt at trying to justify how we've lost to Urbs every time he's coached against us at OSU. Why can't we just call it what it is and move on? While I was hoping he'd stick around so Jim would get the chance to kick his teeth in a few times, the reality is that's not going to happen now. Stop living in the past with this 10 year war BS. Urbs at OSU was too good for us to overcome. It's in the past. It is what it is. It sucks a big one. Can't change that. Onward to (hopefully) success against OSU in the future. Ok, rant over. Hello everyone. Go Blue. Fuck OSU. Fuck MSU. Now I feel better.

If haters come after me with indisputable facts I'll probably just agree that they are correct.  Coming up with an insane spin on things might make me look delusional/foolish.

I don't like Urban but the idea that he retired because he was afraid of losing the next 6 straight is absurd. He's one of the best on field coaches the game has seen. Sorry but that's the truth. Harbaugh can reach that too though in my opinion. I wanted him to beat Meyer once but if he's getting into the playoffs and winning a couple no one's going to give a damn he didn't beat Meyer while still in rebuilding mode.

Jesus, one of the most pathetic excuses for confidence that I have ever seen. Michigan fans should  have higher standards for what constitutes a rational thought.

I think we need to stop trying to call anything with Ohio State as anything approximating a 10 Year War Pt 2. It's been more like the 15 Year Bludgeoning

Harbaugh v Urban has been competitive, but it is still 4-0 Buckeyes sadly. I wouldn't call that a war
