I'm 100% with Harbaugh. Yes, Rudock needs to improve. Well, he is improving. Between route running and timing and protection, Rudock is getting better. And we're going to see it in upcoming games. There's no reason to be afraid of the defense at BYU, nor Maryland. And even though Northwestern is a bit better, we're playing them at home, and need to remove the strench of the MooN game. That's 3 more opportunities in game situations for Rudock and his receiving corps to nail down the passing game. I'm betting on it happening. And for Michigan to be much more competitive against MSU than most anticipate.

The other thing is that Harbaugh very verbally has Rudock's back. He is making it clear that he is competely behind his QB, and is giving him what he needs to succeed. I'm thinking that support pays dividends for Harbaugh, for Rudock, and shows the team that Harbaugh stands behind his players no matter what criticism comes from the outside.

I believe that Harbaugh is wanting Rudock to trust his throws, even into coverage.  At Iowa - Rudock may have been told to NOT throw into coverage and check down   -  hence fewer potential int's.  The blatent miss of the game was the throw to Drake ... and it is very likely that Drake did not run the route correctly ... because Jake threw the pass as an out cut and Drake ran it like it was a screen pass (but there were no leading blockers?).

I am concerned about the deep balls to open receivers ... but I beleive we have yet to see Rudock at his best and he is still way ahead of Devin's 2014 season.

Finally, I havent seen any mention of the stiff arms that Darboh and Issac have been using !  I don't know if this is coaching or just talent ... but these 2 guys make it look like an art form, and it is VERY effective!!!

I wouldn't say Rudock is way ahead of 2014 Gardner.

Through 3 games...

Ruddock 64% | 582 yards | 3TD 5INT

Gardner 68% | 546 Yards | 5TD 5INT

Fairly similar competition level. Rudock has had a much better Oline, Gardner had Funchess.

Now Gardner regressed, and I think Rudock will hopefully improve -- but he's really been quite bad thus far haha.

I kind of agree, but not really. For some reason, I feel that Rudock's interception totals are more excusable than Gardner. I mean, as a human being, I loved Gardner. But it was always a crapshoot when he was playing. Something could always go wrong. The OL and the running game have improved a lot, making it difficult to compare. Still, if we're going down this road, I think I may choose Rudock over Gardner. We'll never know . . . Harbaugh wasn't given that choice.

I don't have a photographic memory of every interception for each quarterback but it seems like Devin had more bad reads and rushed decisions than Rudock. Rudock's have been less egregious (and I was a big fan of Devin, still am. I felt like he got a raw deal here and wish he could have had four years under Harbaugh).

First year coach, first year with the team, first year with the team learning new offensive schemes all together as a whole.
At times I catch myself wondering why Shane isn't getting a shot or why we are sticking with Jake but then I remember who the coach is.
Harbaugh knows what he's doing and by making knee jerk reactions to coachable mistakes you can easily lose trust from the team by not trusting your own players.
The bottom line is that we are winning the games we should win so far and we are doing it based on the ground and pound game plans we are supposed to follow.
Yeah, maybe with perfect QB play we would have covered the spread against UNLV. Ultimately that doesn't matter. Wins matter and so does building trust within a team. I'm happy to see we seem to be doing both so far.
We are exactly where I thought we'd be at this point in the season and actually are slightly ahead since I didn't see us running this effectively this early.
I'm not hitting the panic button and I'm happy JH stands behind his guys. For the record he has not been shy about saying that Jake could get better or that he missed a throw here and there. He just seems to have the expectation that this will happen and we should too, considering the facts outlined in my first thought above.

stands in the competition.  It's too bad.  It seems obvious he hasn't developed at all under the previous coaching staff and is still a raw product.  Maybe redshirting would be the best option for him at this point.  That would give him the best chance of resurrecting his career - by another year being tutored by Harbaugh.  And if he can't beat out O'Korn/Gentry/Speight/et al next year, then he wasn't destined to be a starter.

about the Morris situation other than his lack of experience, compounded by yet another system to learn. It is pretty damn difficult to put an inexperienced QB in charge of an offense that doesn't have the precision of multiple years of execution. That isn't a condemnation of the QB or anybody else. Carr produced some pretty good QBs but when he went to a young Henne he dumbed down the playbook. Henne didn't have the years in the system. I'm sure Harbaugh has had similar considerations in making his choice for this season. Rudock is the best option because he had 25 games of experience, not because of raw talent.

I've been saying this since the beginning of the season. Everyone calling for Morris is ridiculous. Pretty sure Jim knows what is what and who is who. Far better than anyone on this blog. If Morris gave M a chance to be better, he would be playing.

It's like you guys want Jim to prove it to YOU by putting Morris in there. Jim doesn't have to prove shit to you. So shut it and trust Harbaugh will do what he does. Put the best on the field and win.

When Harbaugh talked about OSU and MSU winning big games, he had a bit of an edge in his voice. I took it as he's planning and working toward winning big games. He'll have the players fighting like hell to do that this year.

JH keeps stuff close to vest & isn't going to have the media starting a QB controversy...or will he give other teams info on what he is doing. So he will squash those questions - no matter what is he is really thinking.

He sees Ruddocks bad throws 1st hand & for sure sees them on tape. JH either see's how he can fix bad mechanics etc with Ruddock - & or will be working hard with Speight etc also, in case Ruddock keeps having issues or gets injured.

With JH, we won't see another Neb type of game when Denard went out - & the backup QB had no idea what to do.

Trust JH - he is the QB guru....
