Harbaugh Hope Lives

Submitted by Maize and Blue… on

Harbaugh refused comment on the Michigan offer today at his press conference, therefore, no news - is good news.

I like how refuses on the grounds that he doesnt want to talk about "any other job." He at least ackowledges and views us as a job. If he didnt consider UM a potential job opportunity for himself, he couldve said so and just talked about his alma mater and who he thought would be a good coach for us to get.

I also thought his comment about the "process" was interesting too (someone above already brought it up).  If I were confronted by my boss about rumors that I'm talking to another company, I sure as hell wouldn't refer to that company's "process" unless I had one foot out the door.

We have all become raving lunatics from this coaching search! I literally giggled as he evaded answering the question about if he intends to finish out his contract with the 49ers.

until I am not. (And hopefully bt next week before his last game or immediately after he will respond to that question by saying, I am now the coach of the Michigan Wolverines, until I am not). And then life will be great again.

He gave very short and curt answers to basically everything, not just the Michigan questions. Only real insight he ever gave was gushing about Frank Gore and his professionalism (citing a game in 2011 where he ran for over 100 yards on a bum ankle).

The Michigan answer was exactly what you would hope. No flat out denial that Michigan offered him, that was taking it or turning it down...instead of turning it to focus on the chargers (the coaches and players).

One reporter asked "is it your intention to finish up your contract? (or something to that effect)" and AGAIN non committal that he's only focusing on the job right in front of him...chargers.

has already made it to this thread. Now we need several opinions on the man's body language and every minute muscle reaction he makes during the conference. Hopefully he didn't have any bowel discomfort or that may really throw off some of the 'going to Michigan' indicators.

I do want to give that reporter credit for the question about finishing out the contract. It seemed to ask 1 question and could give answers to many questions. I just thought it was a smart choice of question to ask. With that said screw NFL reporters.... HARBAUGH !!!

I am obviously biased, but I think that I saw a much more relaxed Harbaugh, joking around, and smiling quite a bit.  Very different to the other recent pressers.

THIS IS THE SAME INFO THAT I POSTED AT THE END OF THE THREAD.

sorry guys ... i called a couple friends after the conversation.

Around 3pm, eastern today, Harbaugh's agent called and talked through some details of the agreement ... really clearifcations... making sure he has total understanding of the details.  He again said that Jim is really upset with the leaks but that it didn't come from the Harbaugh side.   My buddy said the michigan team doesn't know either way.

This weekend / Monday after the game is big ... the agent said that the family is going to hash some things over about moving to AA and truly determine if Michigan is likely.   If it's not, then they will give an indication to michigan to seriously begin looking at plan B.   That wouldn't necessarily mean that he's out depending on other opportunities.

My buddy thinks this very good news.   Getting clearfications is because they don't want any misunderstandings.   The family really considering AA is great news too... if it's a go then this thing is going to happen!!!!   And probably happen the day after SF last game.

AWESOME ... GO BLUE

edit:  I forgot maybe the best part ... after the call, the michigan team did some high fives across the table.  The tone was excellent.

I'm feeling pretty good about this news.  It's not as good as saying he is coming but it is moving in the right direction.

Talked to a sparty friend and i gave him the scoop ... he's shitting his pants.  They know they are going to be 6-6 and the detroit bowl in a hurry.
