Harbaugh - 2015 Best Year He's Had In Football

Submitted by Everyone Murders on

According to this MLive article, Harbaugh views the 2015 season at Michigan as the best he's had.  He conditions that on winning tomorrow, but it sure makes it sound (as many of us has long-suspected) like he sees Ann Arbor as his permanent home.

If Harbaugh does well here, there's no doubt he'll be getting serious offers from the NFL, probably starting after the 2017 season. You can be sure that Harbaugh wants very badly to win a Super Bowl, and if the right offer comes, he will almost certainly grab it. I don't think he'll bail after only 3 years, but any time after that, it's a good bet.

Do you know how silly you sound?  Even Harbaugh doesn't know for sure how he's going to feel about his situation here in 3 or 4 years.  But the offers WILL come from the NFL, there is absolutely no doubt about that.  And Harbaugh wants very badly to win a Super Bowl.  Do the math.

People expecting him to be here the rest of his career are likely to be very disappointed.

"We just started, we just started working at the job Dec. 30 (2014)," Harbaugh said. "Every single day was 'get up, work and see if we can't make today better than yesterday and tomorrow better than today.' That remains the expectation.

Win or lose, I think this past year might be one of the most energetic years in a long time for the fanbase and really the culture around the program. Everything just seemed to brim with life again, some things for the first time in a long time, and all of it eminated from the energy that Harbaugh brought to the program every day. Hopefully, this is just the start of a nice, long run.

If he wins tomorrow, he will have 10 wins - double last year's amount - and a victory in a New Years Day bowl game against a team that played for the SEC Championship.

Hell of a "starter" year.

New Defensive coordinator Brown is with the team and coaches at the luncheon today. Really happy to hear this.

It's not just about wins and losses.

  • The progression we've seen individually from players is unreal.
  • The work ethic on the recruiting trail is second to none.
  • The cohesiveness of the program hasn't been this way since the early 00's at best.
  • The stature of the program is as high as it's been since the mid 00's at best (sure we went to the Sugar Bowl with Hoke, but no one actually thought our program was elite or even close).
  • The quality of coaching at Michigan is better than anything since Bo and Jack Harbaugh shared the same sideline.

We say Leaders and the Best...but we haven't been since Tressel arrived, that's just the facts as much as it pains me to admit it.

I know the OSU game was bad. But we can go toe-to-toe with anyone in any facet of college football right now.

Our direction and focus hasn't bee like this since early in Bo's career. That's also a fact. I agree with Harbaugh, win tomorrow, and I firmly believe, "we're back."

I don't think one game means they have program dominance over Harbaugh.

I think they got the absolute better of Harbaugh and Durkin on that day.

I don't think we were 31 points better than BYU by halftime either. It goes both ways.

Glasgow played a factor, a DC who wouldn't adjust played a factor...OSU may beat us over and over, but I don't think they're (however many points they crushed us by) better.

We can certainly recruit with them, our coaches are just as good, our players are progressing just like theirs. I don't see 1 games and the end-all be all.

If I did, Oklahoma has NO SHOT versus Clemson tonight. We all know that isn't true. That was one game and Oklahoma was outmanned in every facet on that night. But Clemson wasn't that much better as a team or a program.

Obviously W's and L's mean more than anything I listed. No question. But I agree with Harbaugh...this has been a great year and I think we, as a program, are right there when you take everything into account.

But don't underestimate the loss of Glasgow and the fact that Durkin was busy trying to land the Maryland job during the week. Dismiss the lack of defensive preparation if you want but you will never convince me.

Dantonio didn't need excuses when he went INTO Columbus and beat OSU without his starting QB.  Excuses are the hallmark of a program that just can't get it done when the money is on the table.

I am keeping the title, though it looks creepier written out than I anticipated. The energy and the winning were both nice.  The BEST things to me were the individual player development-Rudock, A.J. Williams, Wormley, Butt-and the improvement of the team from the start of the season until injuries decimated the d-line.

Hope he retires as a coach and becomes AD for a little bit so he can hire the next coach to keep it rolling.

I am not happy about the punt screw up and the lack of effort against OSU. But for some here to say he's gone in a few years obviously don't Harbaugh. Could he leave? Sure. Will he ? Nope.
