Jimbo Fisher looked a little worried about what may be coming.
December 8th, 2016 at 9:27 AM ^
As he should be.
December 8th, 2016 at 9:33 AM ^
just looked like he truly, honestly, did not know how to relate to this man sitting next to him. Harbaugh might as well have been a Golden Retriever fielding questions from the audience and then looking to Fisher for additional comment. That is how bewildered Fisher looked about the entire situation.
December 8th, 2016 at 9:57 AM ^
I mean, his name is Jimbo. He is a simpleton. He'll never understand someone of epth and complexity like Harbaugh.
December 8th, 2016 at 10:07 AM ^
spent close to a minute breaking down his first encouter with a coconut. We cannot put all of the blame on Fisher for his confusion. Our coach is not a normal man. Imagine trying to have a conversation with another adult dressed up in an Iron Man costume but not letting on that anything is unusual about it. That is the Harbaugh effect.

"Harbaugh spent close to a minute breaking down his first encouter with a coconut"
A coconut that he got out of the first palm tree he ever saw, on his own, using sticks and rocks. He them opened said coconut using rocks and "a curb." He then eat the coconut. This all happened when he was a child, yet he remembers it in a way that makes you think he still has peices of the shell.
I love this man.
December 8th, 2016 at 10:42 AM ^
My first encounter with a coconut was sexual.* Imagine how Fisher would have reacted to that description. The exchange could have been much worse.
*Not really.**
**I mean, not the first ... .

This is funny

I sometimes think I get why there's a certain resentment out there on the part of rural people about how they are perceived. . .
People said the same thing about Bobby Bowden, and he came to town and kicked our asses up and down the field in 91 with a brand of football no one had ever seen.
December 8th, 2016 at 11:37 AM ^
As someone who grew up in a rural area on a farm, I can assure you that your hunch is 100% correct. Rural people know the perception of them, resent the hell out of it, and then often rally around the things that "city folks" resent about rural people (which is not an unnreasonable psychological reaction, I might add).

"A lot of teams got cool things!"
December 8th, 2016 at 9:39 AM ^
the greatest weirdo of all time!!! Mostly because he's our weirdo. And weirdos are cool.

"Eccentric" is just a term for a weirdo who possesses money and respect.
December 8th, 2016 at 9:57 AM ^
I ask with sincerity, but, what is the difference here? Is it as simple as perjorative vs. non-perjorative or are we going with different definitions?
December 8th, 2016 at 10:06 AM ^
when I claimed the mantle of being an "eccentric" at 12 or 13 years old:
"Boy, where did you learn that from, eccentrics have money, you're just weird."

Eccentric and weirdo are pretty much the same thing. It just sounds nicer to say that Coach is eccentric... Objectively as possible - Harbaugh is kind of weird, so what
December 8th, 2016 at 11:48 AM ^
when people say Harbaugh is weird. Why? Because he is educated, experienced, adventurous, and gives rich illustrations to articulate his thoughts, or his answers to questions? That's not weird, that is intellectual sanity and clarity. His focus on tasks and his ability to multitask is outstanding. Try brilliant instead of weird, its a better fit

My uncle's rule of thumb is that eccentrics are rich and poor people are just crazy (read: weird). Kind of works so I share it here.

I love him

December 8th, 2016 at 9:41 AM ^

It would be cool if it was original, we gave two shits about it besides laughing at them while they mess it up, or even remotely clever.

Harbaugh and guys named "Jimbo" or "Dabo" will never be bros. Urban Meyer probably relates better.
December 8th, 2016 at 9:44 AM ^
LMAO - he is so friggin' out there
December 8th, 2016 at 9:45 AM ^
That was great and recruits can really appreciate how cool he is. Jimbo on the other hand looked quite uncomfortable.
December 8th, 2016 at 10:25 AM ^
None of this matters if Harbaugh isn't a top 5 coach, but he is. But, his personality is a gravitational force. The sports media can't get enough of the guy, and he is constantly in the news.
I will try to remember these days since I believe they are the best UM Football will have in a long time.
December 8th, 2016 at 7:15 PM ^
Right on man!
December 8th, 2016 at 9:46 AM ^
we got it open, then, uhhhh, we ate it!
December 8th, 2016 at 9:46 AM ^
Given his level of competitiveness, there is no damn way that coconut was not coming down. Absolutely love this guy!
December 8th, 2016 at 9:46 AM ^
His Press Conferences are so much more enjoyable than Brady Hoke's or RR. Love that he is our coach.
December 8th, 2016 at 7:17 PM ^
His press conferences are must watch. Not sure what other coach is other than Mike Leach. Most everyone else is just pure coachspeak.
December 8th, 2016 at 9:56 AM ^
Little did I know that the Dos Equis commercial at the beginnign of the clip would foreshadow Jim's coconut gathering experience. Jim Harbaugh is the most interesting man in the world.
Stay thirsty Harbaugh, stay thirsty.

From now on when I tell a story, I'm going to always end it with "That was...that was one of life's memories."
