Happy Birthday, Denard!

Submitted by Dilla Dude on

Denard 'Shoelace' Robinson turns 25 on this fine day.

During an era where there was little to be excited about, Robinson's electrifying play and Hollywood smile managed to make those years a bit more tolerable.

What is everyone's favorite 'Shoelace' moment/'s?

Denard is quiet about it. He does the kneel and that's it. Tebow goes so far to be in commercials promoting his religious views. What's that quote about religion being like penises? It's fine for you to love yours but don't shove it down other people's throats.

Tebow is in commercials during a game?

Hmmm... from what I've seen, in a game, Tebow kneels in the same manner as Denard.

Listen, I'm not introducing politics or religion in this... others are.  Grow up and realize it's the same motion/act.  It's just that you like one of the players doing the same thing as another player which you don't like (and haven't met to make a cogent like/dislike decision).

You're missing the point. Denard is humble. Tebow is not (certainly not to the extend Denard is, at least). It's not the act of kneeling that's the issue, it's their respective attitudes. The kneel is just something easy and visible to make fun of Tebow for. They're making fun of him as a person, not the act of kneeling and giving thanks or whatever he's doing. It would be the same if Tebow did the Sammy Sosa cross/kiss thingy instead of the kneel.

An all-time Michigan man. Didn't play on the best teams, but played with incredible grit and passion. Overall amazing athlete and person.

EDIT: Whoever downvoted me for this post should get punched in the De-Nards...

Didn't see already posted, but he's out for a few weeks with an MCL sprain(?) last I read.

One of my all time favorites. We'll always have 2011, and 2012 was an under-appreciated season from a player-performance perspective. Could have been another special one with better coaching decisions and playcalling.

Mine is the same as Zachary Taylor. A national hero and military genius, rising to the rank of Major General, who then ascended to the US presidency. He died after serving as President for 492 days, the third shortest term as President ever, after getting sick (intestinal issues) after drinking milk and eating raw fruit. Must not have been whole milk.
