In an interview with The Detroit News at halftime of Wednesday's Minnesota-Michigan game at Crisler Center, Hackett said he's working on future football schedules, finalizing the details of the $169-million Nike contract and finishing up the long-term contract for football coach Jim Harbaugh.

"About done," Hackett said of the Harbaugh pact, which originally was for seven years and about $5.7 million annually. "We should have news on that soon.

Your definition of "not following the masses" is a weird one really, especially if it includes - as it apparently does in your case - concern trolling over the Swenson recruitment and being generally a pissant in the hoops thread last night. However, feel free to take one of the typical positions (i.e., my opinion was unpopular, therefore I was sent to Bolivia) of the aggrieved MGoBlogger.

Sorry, I get tired of that crap.

I can just picture Harbaugh reading the contract and being like, "What's this clause about me promising my body and enternal soul to the university? With a subclause (warning?) that if 'Michigan can't have me, no one can'."

Never have to pay for another meal in the state of Michigan ever again... Amazing and I hope that he will stay involved with the University whenever he decides to move away from the AD position. Go Blue!

This guy is making every leader of every organization everywhere look bad. He shows up and from day 1 just takes care of business. I want him in charge of everything I care about. He deserves a statue, a medal, or at least a cuddle from us as a collective.

Makes me really wish I could have had the opportunity to work for him. I'm sure he's been a role model to a lot of future leaders. What an incredible human being this guy is. Makes everybody else seem like they're falling short of their potential.

But the Raiders are supposed to be moving to the San Antonio-Austin area and then "The Raiders are still in play" thing would be great for us down here! Damn you Hackett!!!! /s - in case it wasn't extremely obvious. PS: If the statue is built, it needs to be modeled off of the picture of him in the chair at the town hall style meeting.

As many of us have thought/hoped for...this means Harbaugh is here for the long haul.  (Unless we are stupid and hire another bad AD.)  Great job by Hackett, UM football is going to be fun to watch for the next 15 years.

Am I making too much of this?  Actually, I don't care what you think...I'm going to be happy as hell for the rest of the day regardless.

I'll be on the look out for Hacket around Ann Arbor for everyone. When I see a guy riding maize and blue winged Unicorn, I will let you all know because he is pretty much a mythical hero at this point.
