Hackett could step aside for permanent AD as soon as this month
Warde Manuel. I guarantee it.
Jim Hackett could step aside for a permanent AD, as soon as this month, reports @Mark__Snyder and @reporterdavidj: https://t.co/omCDGvGTeG

Maybe it's a really short guy in-between them.

I'd prefer Brad Bates as the new AD's first big hire is going to be hockey-related and Buffalo/UConn don't have hockey. But Warde Manuel is a great option too.
Hackett should be commended for his service and getting the athletic department back on track in such a short period of time.

I'm hoping it's Bates for the same reasons (also the fact he helped propel Miami [NTM] to the upper echelon of college hockey while AD there). Even Bo predicted in Bo's Lasting Lessons that Bates would make a great AD for Michigan.
But Hackett did as swell a job in such a tough position. He truly gets it.

I want Bill Bonds as Michigan's AD

UCONN has hockey

He oversaw the elevation of UConn's program from mid-major to major program so he certainly understands the value of a hockey program

Maybe as a consultant or someting of that sort.

If not a statue.. he deserves something!!!! I mean, what else does the man need to do?
December 1st, 2015 at 4:40 PM ^
"Hackett's biggest remaining task, should he remain through the football team's bowl game, might be determining coach Jim Harbaugh's deferred compensation, which could amount to a significant performance bonus. Harbaugh's contract was left open-ended, stipulating that within 30 days following the last game of the season, the university will review the status of the program and determine an appropriate deferred-compensation arrangement for him."
Damn, dude REALLY needed convincing to come here, didn't he? /s

That's the Brandon Way... lifeless 'pimp hand'
December 1st, 2015 at 4:49 PM ^
Not sure how the new AD would do that. Seems out of his hands.
December 1st, 2015 at 4:41 PM ^
whomever takes his place was chosen in consultation with Harbaugh. And by "consultation" I mean "hand-picked".
December 1st, 2015 at 5:38 PM ^
Why? I get not wanting friction between the head football coach and AD, I don't think hiring somebody just because the coach endorses them is always a good move, especially if it implies some subordination and spinelessness for the AD. I hope they hire the best candidate who can handle managing and building the facilities, contracts, hiring and firing, and so on, not just somebody Harbaugh likes.

Any insider info?
UConn teams have won six NCAA national championships under Manuel's watch - the most ever by Husky squads in a three-year period. In May of 2015, in recognition of Manuel’s leadership of the Huskies success academically and athletically, he was named a winner of the Under Armour AD of the Year Award by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of America (NACDA).
From his UConn profile. Sounds like a very qualified AD with ties to Michigan.

AD of the year, UM alum, played football with Harbaugh. I don't know anything about the guy, but it sounds pretty much gift-wrapped.
December 1st, 2015 at 4:48 PM ^
I assume 5 of those 6 titles are the UConn's WBB and the other one being the MBB title?
December 1st, 2015 at 5:09 PM ^
Five titles in three years would truly be epic, even for Geno Auriemma.
December 1st, 2015 at 5:11 PM ^
Nope, UConn field hockey won one last year and almost repeated this year in Ann Arbor.
He also hired Turner Gill when he was at Buffalo and Gill turned them into MAC champions.
December 1st, 2015 at 7:23 PM ^
I forgot about Gill. Poor guy ruined his career taking the Kansas job.
December 1st, 2015 at 4:48 PM ^
He met with Hackett in Ann Arbor two weeks ago when UConn was in the NCAA Field Hockey semifinals which was played here.
December 1st, 2015 at 5:00 PM ^
are you following Hackett around wearing fake glasses and a rubber nose??
December 1st, 2015 at 4:46 PM ^
Good Job Jim Hackett!
December 1st, 2015 at 4:46 PM ^
It may sound like the tail wagging the dog, but my want is whomever Harbaugh wants.
December 1st, 2015 at 4:47 PM ^
Is it wrong that I don't want to see him go?
December 1st, 2015 at 4:49 PM ^
I'll forever be grateful to him.

Everyone follows comedy accounts.
