Greg Brown - Junior from Fremont Ohio

Rodriguez closes in on another Ohio commitment Michigan Coach Rich Rodriguez has commitments from five rising seniors from the state of Ohio. He seems close to adding a commitment from his first rising junior from the Buckeye State. Courtesy ESPN.com: Defensive back Greg Brown (Fremont, Ohio/Ross) is one of the most recruited juniors-to-be in the state of Ohio. He worked out at the Ohio State Advanced Camp on Friday. Before that he worked out at camps at Michigan and Michigan State. Brown's first scholarship offer came from Central Michigan. While he was camping in the state of Michigan, Brown came away with two new scholarship offers. "Michigan State and Michigan, they both offered after camp," Brown said. "Michigan is my favorite. I'm probably going to decide pretty soon." The 5-foot-10 and 184-pound Brown made 30 tackles and intercepted five passes during his sophomore season. He is from the same high school as former Michigan great Charles Woodson.

Being that he's from the WORST STATE EVA, he's pretty darn talented. Whether or not his talent in HS translates to college remains to be seen but it's always a BIG COUP when you can pick up talent from Ohio and deny OSU a player. Be patient. Michigan will be back and better than ever.

Don't forget the Blonde Bomber from Fremont Ohio, Rob Lytle an all time Michigan great. Michigan has had great success on that little town along the Lake Erie shore not too far from Cedar Point. Brown would be an excellent verbal!

Ah, what the hell, I'll bite. This is a dumb post. Michigan has been recruiting Ohio since the states fought over Toledo. We get some pretty decent football players from there. Florida has arguably the most high school football talent in the country. Pennsylvania is another high school football hot spot that can't be ignored. And you just threw South Carolina in for the hell of it. In-state recruiting is obviously important, but too much is made of it. In response to "Marco Dane."

Dantonio can have the in-state talent..as long as RR keeps gettin the best talent from south florida, ohio, penn, and texas..who cares?

RR's interest in good 2011 recruits before rivals/scout stars even come out shows us that the coaches really do know what they're doing. Not like you didn't know that already. I'm just saying...

What? How does this prove that Rodriguez is good at identifying talent prior to star ratings? There's nothing to back up that assertion - the kid still doesn't have a star rating and just finished his junior season. Greg Brown could absolutely suck, and the word on the street is that he's a bit of a space cadet and has had some attitude/behavior issues. I'm not saying that Rodriguez is poor at identifying talent, but this bit of information doesn't prove anything either way.

Magnus, you're better than to throw out innuendo about some kid who hasn't even signed yet saying "he's a bit of a space cadet and has had some attitude/behavior issues". It's this sort of pseudo analysis/rumor thrown out as fact "word on the street" that turns kids and/or their parents off the recruiting process. Unquestionably, there are few more reliably interesting posters than Magnus on the boards but do you really think it's necessary to disparage and belittle a 17 year old kid?
