Great Quote By Brandon on the ND Night Game
This is a great quote by Brandon. It merely reinforces my belief that we are in good hands with him at the helm.
On the first night game at Michigan Stadium in 2011 against Notre Dame: " Well, change is good. Clearly there's a part of me that wanted to make a statement. The reality was, I did a little research. We had been on the road 33 times all the way back to 1944 and we're always the team on the road, and we're always the ones flying home at 3:30 in the morning. We're always the ones playing on prime-time national TV in front of hostile crowds, screaming at us, and thankfully we've done really well. We've won two-thirds of those games. But the reality is we've never had the opportunity to let somebody else feel what that's like. I like the idea that Notre Dame can come to Michigan Stadium and feel what that atmosphere is going to be like on national TV, prime-time. Let them fly home at 3:30 in the morning."
To a "night game" atmosphere was the OT game against PSU in 2002. That was freaking awesome. I can imagine the 2011 Irish beat-down will be even crazier.
PSU 2005 was insane as well. The stadium went nuts under the lights after Henne complete that pass to Mario in the back of the endzone. Best game ever.
Don't forget about Late Night with Braylon Edwards Show. 10/30/04.

I think Braylonfest was the latest game ever at Michigan Stadium -- ended after 8:00, IIRC. A full moon was rising just off the horizon during the OTs.
I froze my ass off at that game. I just remember walking toward the stadium and looking up to see one of the planes pulling an advertising flag, seemingly standing still above me. The plane eventually turned around and headed back toward the airport.

I was at that game and when michigan was down what? like 20 pts with 5 minutes left, the people in front of us left and we contemplated leaving. We stayed around for the onside kick and the party was started after that.

Down 27-10 with about 7 minutes to play. Lloyd settled for a FG, which sent (even more) people heading for the exits. Then we recovered the onside kick and it was on. Game was a 3:30 start, ended after 8pm. Unseasonably warm late October weather (over 70 degrees at 3:30) gave way to friggin cold weather in OT - temps under 50, IIRC.
EDIT: I recall the weather because: I wore a long sleeve t-shirt and jeans, thinking that the warm weather was a tentative blessing, My then-17-year old cousin from LA was in town for his first UM football game. He dressed similarly. By the end of the game, we were freezing our asses off, stomping our feet and clapping our hands to both (a) cheer for the team; and (b) keep warm.
For some reason I thought you meant Brandon Graham when I clicked on this thread, which got me really excited.
Brandon Graham is the Golden Mouth to me...anything that he says is the gospel and should be taken as truth.
Damn.
In any case, I like what David Brandon is doing so far. Let's hope he can steer this ship in the right direction.
Go Blue !!!! Another loss planned for this year.

...you mean win, right?
April 27th, 2010 at 11:24 AM ^
We will have a very successful season that will be fueled by wins over UCONN and ND.

FAIL
Clearly, we do not want RAWK music. We can be more than hostile and crazy enough without it.
But what we DO need, definitely, is something that will get the crowd going. I kid you not, I want to get a live, headlining metal band to do a heavy version of The Victors with the MMB at halftime. It'll be like Hendrix performing the Star Spangled Banner. Are their any famous rockers out of Michigan?
WOOO YEAH! AMERICAN BADASS!
Andrew WK would be GREAT for this
April 27th, 2010 at 12:01 PM ^
Andrew wk lol..
...past their prime, but Detroiters love them some Kiss.
Open with Detroit Rock City and close with The Victors.
Plus they have a history of doing stuff like this in Michigan. Just keep a watchful eye on the cheerleaders.
..but it would be great to see the Godfather of Punk, Iggy Pop, rile up the crowd. Not only is he from Ann Arbor, but it is rumored that he was the Ann Arbor High School (now called Pioneer) Class Valedictorian as a senior.
It would be a nice promotion: the Godfather of Punk meets the Godfather of the Spread Option.

...end his performance by crowdsurfing up the student section?
Another A2 native rocker, Pioneer alum, and Detroit icon would not be nearly as cool.
[ed. Don't get me wrong: I love Seger and when I was in junior high, I wore out my copy of "Live" Bullet. I'm just not sure that he connects with "kids these days." Now, Iggy Pop doing I Wanna Be Your Dog crosses many generational boundaries.]
April 27th, 2010 at 11:17 AM ^
Seger doesn't connect with the kids these days, but Iggy Pop does?! I had to do a google search to find out if Iggy Pop was even still alive.

...you need to get out of Wyoming a little more then.
April 27th, 2010 at 11:57 AM ^
You don't need to patronize me. If you think the student section is going to be excited about Iggy friggen Pop, you are nuttier than a squirrel turd.
typically don't love football.
...with Bob frigging Seger, yeah, I think they would like that a little more. Chill the hell out, buddy. I thought Wyoming was supposed to be all peaceful-like and nourishing to the soul.
It's bizarre to see how seriously you're taking this.
Ted Nugent

What about Bob Seger?
...but I would advise against a reprise of Disco Demolition Night.
Yeah, I was a card carrying member of WRIF's D.R.E.A.D.

Wow so was I, waaaaay back in the early 80's. Detroit Rockers Engaged in the Abolition of Disco.

about DREAD to this day and the spider they would feed the records to. That is probably why I am such a huge rock fan. Give me some more Foghat already!!
April 27th, 2010 at 10:46 AM ^
I bet the Red Hot Chili Peppers would do it in a heartbeat. That would be pretty sweet.
the more I love the guy.
I'm so in love with him....
"Speaks so well isn't a complement. "He Speaks so well" is what you say about a retarded person that can talk!"

pres-o-dent.
April 27th, 2010 at 11:00 AM ^
it's ritard.
For those confused, the OP is referring to (Dave) Bandon.
I think he meant (Race) Bannon:
April 27th, 2010 at 10:27 AM ^
Hmmm...
Just how long is the flight between Ann Arbor and South Bend? More than 20 minutes?
April 27th, 2010 at 10:58 AM ^
Because I'm sure ND would use a bus for this...
ps - The Hell with Notre Dame!
April 27th, 2010 at 11:35 AM ^
Indeed it is.

Brandon giving RichRod job security for the 108th time.
Does the world really need 109?
April 27th, 2010 at 11:14 AM ^
Throw em all in there. Kid Rock, Uncle Ted, Kiss, Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, Iggy Pop, Andrew WK, and why not Jack White and Eminem? The stadium probably wouldn't survive that performance.
April 27th, 2010 at 11:24 AM ^
...suggestion yet.
April 27th, 2010 at 11:26 AM ^
they all perform The Victors along with the MMB.
April 27th, 2010 at 11:31 AM ^
I vaguely recall that some are Michigan fans, others are just from the State of Michigan.
BTW, did you purposely leave Madonna out of the list? And what about Motown sound?
Lastly, I wonder what it would cost . . . would any of the bands do this for a nominal fee and a free suite or two for the day, or is there a huge payout?
April 27th, 2010 at 11:32 AM ^
Alice Cooper.

Vern Troyer does Joe C's parts in all the Kid Rock songs.
would be my pick if we could get only one.
