Grant Newsome news and its good

Submitted by theguy49503 on

Just read Grants surgery was a success and he will play again. Not sure how long the road to full recovery will be but it sounds like things went really well.

If I understand correctly, the determination on a medical redshirt is the % of season that a player has participated in. Clark played in 4 / 12 games and theoretically has the possibility of applying for this.

Not to get ahead of ourselves, but if Michigan wins the division, then the conference title game, makes the playoff and wins the semifinal, that would mean 15 games played in the season. Newsome would have appeard in 5 / 15 which is the same ratio as Clark. Does anyone know if this longshot hope would get him another year?

If JBB can not be a liability this year, it could end up helping our '17 line significantly. We would then have 2 tackles with experience, Cole at center, and Bredeson at one of the gaurd spots. That would really leave only 1 starting gaurd spot in question, which is much better than I was expecting.

I have high hopes for him, and the spot we'll need to fill is a gaurd. We just won't know what to expect from him yet.

Ruiz has the early enrollee * on the recruiting overview. If we do get him, I feel pretty comfortable with Cole playing anywhere on the line.

Since it was in the 5th game, I think the concensus has been that a redshirt won't happen.

BUT, if we make it to the national championship, that would be 15 games. If they count that he only played in half of the fifth game.... 4.5/15 = 30%

That is awesome news!  I am so happy for Grant.  I pray for a quick and complete recovery for the young man.  Can't wait to see him on the field next year!

It still bothers me that these chop blocks are legal. I know it's how dbacks are taught to block linemen and I'm not blaming the WI player, but it look really bad and is so dangerous.

SUCH GREAT NEWS.

After Harbaugh was asked if this was a career ending injury - the way Harbaugh responded really had me feeling pretty pessimistic about it. I'm glad for Grant, and this is great for UM

So Newsome - Bredeson - Cole - Kugler - JBB next year with Dawson, Onwenu, Runyan and all the true FR battling for PT? I could live with that

his family, and the entire UM fanbase. From everything I've read about the guy, he's been in great spirit since the injury. Great charcter. Looking forward to having him back next year.
