Gopher Stadium Oops -- Noise A Problem To Residents Miles Away

Submitted by Enjoy Life on
I'm in Minneapolis on business and heard on NPR that there is a noise problem with the new stadium. University of Minnesota stadium's play-by-play reaches ears 2 miles away in St. Anthony Park "I go to the back deck to sit, and I can still hear and understand that man's hollering. The sound of the crowd is not so bad ... only occasionally a low roar, one could work on imagining that it is the sound of the sea, but this loud, yelling man ... we must stop him," wrote St. Anthony resident Sue" Other than that, everything is OhKay!

Dem announcers up der in dat stadium, dey got to tone it down dontcha know. I can lower de flaps on my tuque when de cold rolls in an' cover my ears, but its still too warm fer dat. Still can't believe dat dey built de place outdoors like dat. Dey'll be whippin' shitties on the field come November.

I do know the difference between a stormy kromer and a tuque. I figured I'd already have enough people scratching their heads with "whippin' shitties". No sense further confusing things. By the way, you live up near Houghton? I've been to The Library a couple of times -- they had an awesome sandwich, but don't remember what they called it. Love the Finnish pancakes at the Soomie Kitchen, too.

I have listened to the game from the front porch many times. And I don't live all that close to the stadium. I'll have to try and see if there is a difference now this Saturday.
