Good News re Christopher
Apparently ASU, which was considered the main threat since his brother goes there, just took a grad transfer guard in the slot that would have been for Josh. I think "It's Happening!"
Best class since the Fab Five. Juwan!

Alright, give the direction this is heading I finally watched his highlights (via a tweet from Ant Wright 2:20). All I can say is....
OMG...........
Lol! Yeah my man is good, real good!
Him and Todd are only gonna be here for one year. No offense to everyone but I would like it to where they stay the whole four years.
Yeah, I think we'll only get one year out of them, but it will be a killer year. Now - if the college basketball season doesn't happen...that would be peak Michigan.
Hahahaha yes that would be!
HA WolvinLA2! Always go peak Michi...... Oh shit.
It is inevitable. <insert Thanos gif.>
He and Todd*
The only person who gets elite players to stick around for 3-4 years is Izzo. Just gotta hamper their development so much that they can't get drafted
And brainwash them into thinking that he loves them and that this is in THEIR best interest.
Roy Williams at North Carolina does pretty well with getting players to stay.

Roy hasn't had a 5 star ball handler stay since 2014. Roy stopped recruiting the elite players for a little while
Honestly don’t know how he keeps getting blue chippers. He’s slowed (stopped) the development of top tier prospects, one after the next.
Something in me thinks that Juwan will keep recruiting blue chip talent each year. I don’t see him taking a year off like another sport I know
Are you gonna pay them? Would you be willing to supplement their incomes for 3 more years out of your own pocket? GTHOH
If having athletes stay four years is so important to you, I suggest following a different sport.
The softball program is very good and their best players do stay. Wrestling, gymnastics are great options too.
Hello Pony,
If you want to watch guys for 4 years, Division 3 basketball can be fun to watch!
They even have a website! Go to D3Hoops.com and may you never visit MGoBlog again.
I don't follow recruiting anymore because it's weird.
I remember meeting him on his recruiting visit (I believe it was him, not Todd) and having no idea who he was.
Seeing all of the threads about his announcement I looked him up, and saw he's 100% crystal ball to Michigan, so there's almost no way he doesn't come.
I didn't realize he was a 5*. He sounds like he'll be a good addition.
I saw Isaiah Todd (and Moses Moody, but who cares about him at this point) in Ann Arbor walking across from M Den with Juwan when they were on their visit.
I don't follow politics much. I just heard that Trump is president. Wow! I've got to share this with as many people as possible. Just unbelievable.
Yep, Making America Great Again by shutting everything down Dan. Vote for him again and reap the awesome benefits...

I see I hit a sore spot! But I was joking. Anyway, we're all in this together, and your perspective counts as much as mine.
Actually, didn't the governors shut it all down?
Yeah, but some people can't take off the blinders of the jersey. There are people who think saying you can't buy paint or seeds to do things that would actually keep you at home, but hey, it's fine to sell lottery tickets and have people congregate at a convenience store, makes sense...
Seems like many U-M fans want Christopher to come here.
Benvom, apparently, is mildly interested, but not against it...
underrated comment there
Is ASU full on scholarships now? Because we also just took a grad transfer guard, but obviously we still have spots open
Yeah but the grad transfer we just got is a PG while Christopher is a 2 guard. Not sure the exact position the ASU kid they just picked up plays.

added another open spot when Howard's son went from scholarship to walk on for next year....also now Castleton is gone
Hard to argue against the Nik, Caris, Mitch, Spike and Glenn class for best since Fab Five.
In hindsight, my friend, that was a wonderful class. I don't recall anyone going crazy over Spike or Caris at the time.
This group is ranked higher. That's all.
Perhaps OP could've improved your Easter by saying "highest ranked class since the Fab 5" but as that class had no ranking as measured today, that wouldn't have been accurate...
The 1994 class had 4 players ranked in the top 20; Ward, Baston, Taylor and Mitchell, plus Conlan.
Willie Mitchell was so overrated. Peaked in high school. That killed that group more than Ward. Baston and Taylor were fun to watch
But has any M hoops player ever been more successful in bringing high school-esque clapping cheers to Crisler?
That is what I remember of Willie’s time here.
Ward was the #1 player in the country and didn't reach his potential until senior year. I expected more out of him that Mitchell. Either way, that was a disappointing recruiting class when you realize they won only one tournament game and missed one NCAA tournament.
Ward had surgery on both knees. With today's recovery times he would have had more chance to make an impact. That being said, he wasn't an instant impact freshman like Webber before the injuries.
Well every time they call this potentially M's highest ranked class ever, they obviously aren't including the Fab 5 (or by extension '94) because the recruiting sites didn't exist yet to vet them.
Maybe the layer upon layer of regional & national scouts around today would've knocked a player like Mitchell down a few spots?
Or Blanchard (sorry fellow Pioneers!)
But then Chatman comes from the Composite Era, so....
Very true. That class accomplished a lot and really set the tone for what Michigan basketball is capable of in the 21st century. But this class, stars wise, would be ranked higher.
Hopefully next year is a big one for Michigan on the court, since Todd, Christoper, and a bunch of other players will be moving on. Howard will need to keep the pedal to the metal in recruiting for next year (and beyond) to fill up the pipeline.
I was thinking of how huge the 2021 class is going to be. Davis, Brooks, Mike Smith and Livers (assuming he stays in school) are seniors. Plus 2 likely one and dones( Todd and Christopher). Add in Wagner who apparently was a fringe early entrant in this year's draft. That's 7 possible departures at one time. Not sure I remember seeing a college basketball recruiting class that was 7 people. Especially when following up a 6 player class this year.
I'd bet on a couple of transfers joining the next class. We'll probably be looking at the least experienced roster in the country otherwise.
Kentucky took an 8 player class in 2017.
Kentucky has 7 player classes quite often. Sometimes they have 7 top 100 players. Get used to it now that we are recruiting on that level.
Memphis and Oregon had 7 in 2019, L$U and Maryland had 7 in 2018, Duke had 7 and Ky had 8 (including 6 five*s) in 2017, Duke had 6 and Ky 5 in 2016. Ky had 7 and Duke had 6 in 2015
Kinda see the trend that recruiting at this level leads to a lot of turnover.
I can't think of many 5* players that have ever stayed four full years (ie barring injury).
If you play in that pool, the expectation is that they will cycle out in a year or two...
But that's not just 5*; when Beilein was developing his recruits, many also left early, once they believed they were ready...
the hope is that Coach Juwan will be able to reload after losing these players with other equal talent.
Tim Duncan was a 6* and he played 4 years of college.
Of course he graduated from HS at 15, so...
Hate to say this, but here goes. I really hope he comes to us, but my kid is going to ASU starting this fall (COVID 19 dependent), so either way, I'll be rooting for his team. Unless he goes to UCLA.
April 12th, 2020 at 11:23 PM ^
Why would your kid attending ASU make you root for them? Can’t relate.
It happens. My buddy became a fanatical AZ fan cuz his kid was in Marching Band! (and conversely hates ASU!)
