Good Freep Article on Cesar Ruiz Childhood and Growing Up

I thought this was a well written article by Orion Sang at the Freep. Cesar had a tough childhood in Camden, NJ after his father died when Cesar was 8.

I have new respect for this kid, lots of it. Losing your dad at any age is tough, but at 8 it must have been unbearable. I hope the kid has an amazing life...

Agreed. I was 21 when my Dad died, and that was 19 years ago.  I still had a lot of *growing up* to do, and many times lamented the fact that I couldn't ask for his advice.  Could not imagine having to start that journey when I was 8.

His Mother appears to have an incredible amount of emtional fortitude.  She obviously did a fantastic job raising Cesar (and his siblings as well, I imagine).  Here's hoping Cesar is able to continue his success and give her everything he has dreamed of.  It renews my failth in the universe when good things fall into place for good people

I wish the legion of self-appointed internet hot-takers in the Michigan fanbase would learn a little about the personal backgrounds of these young men before spitting their bile. Lookin' at you, Braylon Edwards. Read this article and tell me how "weak" Cesar Ruiz is.

Here's reality. They play football as part of who they are. One video paints the only picture of Ruiz, him being a college KID dicking around, dancing into the squat rack, popping reps, and dancing out. All I could think is..man that kid enjoys Michigan and loves what he does. Knowin a little more of his story, it's more amazing he's that outgoing and "happy"...says volumes on how much of MAN he is. Hope Braylen can grow up some day..
