Going to first game this weekend

Submitted by Moleskyn on

So I just found out I have tickets to the game this weekend! This will be my first game at the Big House, and I feel like a little kid before Christmas! Since I've never been there before though, I would appreciate some advice, specifically:

  • I've heard the drumline puts on a pretty sweet performance before the game. Where do they do their thing and any ideas what time they start?
  • I've also heard the band does a pre-game thing. Any ideas where/when that takes place?
  • I'll be staying at a hotel in Belleville, where is my best bet to park (I don't mind having to walk a little bit to save some money)?
  • Anything else I won't want to miss?

For this weeks Purdue game you will be able to scalp a single (or a pair) for very cheap.  Just be on the corner of main and stadium 15 to 20 minutes before the game and you will have your pick of seats.  Generally for these type of games you can just check the seats from various scalpers to find your favorite location.  At which point offer what you want - lower the better.  If they don't take it literally walk a couple of feet to the next guy.

if your willing to risk a parking ticket park up by the law school where the parking meters are thats fairly close walk to the stadium and is cheaper then any where else in annarbor game day parking is a student scam where they chare 20-30 bucks to park you in and don't try to leave immediatly post game you will never get out of the city for abbout two hours find somewhere to hang out post game for a while.

If you're in Belleville, hit up  the Bayou Grill. Decent Cajun cuisine.

If you don't want to tailgate, just park in a structure on campus.  They're cheaper.  Plus the pregame walk to the stadium is fun.  The crowd progressively gets larger and larger until it fills an entire street.
