Gelen Robinson in 2014 FB Recruiting Class?

Submitted by Michiganguy19 on

Oddly enough I was talking to my coworker (Purdue Alum/ND Fan), who is also into recruiting and from NW Indiana. He asked me if we were looking at Gelen Robinson... Which made me think he either meant,Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson or current Basketball Recruit Glenn Robinson III.

But, as it turns out, GR3 has a younger brother confusingly named Gelen, who is just a Sophmore... but appears to be pretty good at football. Looks like we could be hearing his name in a few years.

NW Indiana Times, Defensive Player of the Year...

Of course, Robinson is also a very talented wrestler. But his ultimate goal is to play football on Saturdays. And maybe even Sundays.

And this is where he might follow in his brother's shadow. He has gone on trips to Ann Arbor with "Tre." Wearing the classic blue and gold helmet is something that brings a smile to Robinson's face.

"I haven't talked to a lot of colleges yet," he said. "But I do like Michigan."

Wow, it sounds like he can be a real special player in a couple years.  I don't know how great NW Indiana football is, but it's over half a million people or more, so there have to be a handful of good football players there and to be DPOY at all, let alone as a soph, is a big deal.

In fact, the #9 player in Indiana is a LB on his same team.  He's a first team all-state player and is committed to Mississippi.  It's safe to say this kid will be good.

Michigan way look GREAT to him, remember the Robinson family is very big into academics (RGIII, I THINK graduated early, said he want(s/ed) to go to law school.  Also, maybe RGIII was only recruited to Baylor BECAUSE he is from NW Indiana, so less exposure (he was actually recruited to play in C-USA (Houston), but his coach moved up).  The name recognition will definitely help his brother.

Well if he keeps on winning POTY awards the next two years I think he'll definitely be a UM level talent. Although, curious to see how his body will mature and determine his position. 6'2" sophomore and has height in those family genes.

Keep your eyes peeled for Gneln Robinson, 2016 Baseball prospect (total stud).

Word on the street is he's an early candidate to re-define "Beast Mode." Babe Ruth's coffin has already begun quivering.
