Game/Tailgating Advice Requested for next week's game

Submitted by Happyshooter on

We recently moved back to the area after many years too far out to tailgate and attend games. We did attend the Spring Game and parked at the High School and had a great time.

Years ago we really liked the golfcourse when it opened, grilling and drinking, and sobering up during the game and getting on the road oneish hours after the game.

Anything we need to know? Advice? How much is the course now? New rules? Pitfalls?

and we love it. Go to Park n Party's website and you can reserve spots in different places around the stadium online. We usually get a space at 2100 S. Main (at the corner of A2-Saline Rd, a .5 mile walk) At that lot, depending on the space it's $20-35 w/room at the end of your vehicle to tailgate. They have more expensive "tailgate" spots that also give you a chunk of grass to spread out your party. Each reservation provides two passes to indoor, real porcelain bathrooms and I think you can buy more passes with your package.

We just do the regular parking spot and are fine. Best part, your space is reserved and vacant up until 30 min before kickoff if you get delayed.

We've always had good luck there and we've run into some fun groups every time we parked. It's pretty easy in-easy out and one time, our schedule forced us to come late. It was awesome driving in and being led directly to a spot with my name on it less than an hour before the game. And not having to deal with the lines at the golf course or Pioneer for a filthy porta-john is worth a few minutes extra walking time. Be forewarned, though. The 2100 "club" bathroom is usually not open AFTER the game. Plan for that before leaving the Big House.

After the game, the only problem some people have is that they route you out of the lot toward Briarwood on S. Main. Won't let you turn right and go to A2-Saline Road. Not a problem for us as we live south of town and avoid the common routes coming/going anyway, but something to consider as you plan your logistics.

Have fun!

We will be tailgating at the golfcourse next weekend...love the open space and all the pagentry of the various tents and so forth.  We bring a portable porta potty tent of our own and plenty of sanitizer to make the experience much better for the wife.  I will bring my portable gas grill and propane tank.  Nothing like throwing the football on the fairways while the burgers and bratts are grilling.  Just get there EARLY.  Hope to see you next week in the Big House!!!!
