Bummer, but not unexpected given the stinker MSU put up against notre dame in primetime

I hate gameday now. Too many gimmicks and bs. Just give me an hour long show with Desmond and Kirk reminiscing about their days at Michigan and OSU and I’ll be happy.

Yeah, it's become unwatchable. I usually turn it on for ten or fifteen minutes just out of some sense of obligation. But it's too long and just isn't very interesting anymore. Plus Samantha Ponder is gone so the eye candy factor has suffered.

I mentioned this yesterday.

They're going to TCU vs. WVU in Ft. Worth and then Herbie will jump on a plane and join Fowler in Ann Arbor to call our game.

Anyone who thought they were coming to Ann Arbor needs to wake up and smell the burning sofa.

They would've gone to FSU/Miami over Michigan/MSU...especially with the recent Hurricane.

At least we'll get the national primetime crew calling our game and all the attention that comes with it. Hopefully the 'croots are watching!

I don't care for having some announcer parachute in an hour or two before the game and act as though they have any significant knowledge if the teams and players participating. Herbstreit is a professional, but not amazing IMO - not worth having him jet across the country to call every primetime game. I would MUCH prefer to have a designated team (even no-name announcers) stay in town for a few days, get to know the town and people, do a number of interviews and actually contribute something meaningful to the game cast.

Wasn't suggesting that Herbstreit didn't know Ann Arbor, but how much has he spoken with Harbaugh, and don brown, and drevo, and Speight, and Gary, the other starters, the backups, etc? How much does he know about THIS team beyond another outside observer? Having someone physically there to do this legwork and being able to discuss it personally (not just putting it into a one page summary to hand to the on air personality) would mean much more and add to the broadcast quality. Kind of like how UM radio adds to their game cast since they actually know about the team. Of course, you want to present both sides, so have the other on air guy/gal work with the other team.

Who said anything about having it be a homer? I just suggested having someone knowledgeable about the teams (both teams playing) because they've put in the time to learn about it. The UM radio announcers do this for UM opponents as well as the home team, which is why I used them as an example.

ALL gameday is and was is undue attention from drunken idiots...packed an extra 100,000 assholes in Ann Arbor last time, and when you lose like we did, it made it all the more painful listening to the mouth breathers. They can have gameday...it's bad enough we have a 7:30 kick.

I do a college football pregame show from my basement with people in my neighborhood - very insightful stuff - discuss mascots, uniforms etc - hard hitting coverage - don't lump all pregame shows together - we all have something to offer..............
