I think that some of these predictions where we win by three or four touchdowns are a bit unrealistic and I think that we're underestimating a Top-25 caliber and Big East Championship contending team.
August 15th, 2010 at 10:15 PM ^
Fuck that. UConn sucks. 3 or 4 TD's by half or else...
RR said M's D will be good and dammit, I'm taking him at his word.
August 15th, 2010 at 10:17 PM ^
Sorry. My new prediction:
Michigan - 52
UConn - 0
At halftime.
August 15th, 2010 at 10:21 PM ^
We best not settle for a field goal.
August 15th, 2010 at 10:24 PM ^
Actually, 6 touchdowns and 5 safeties.
August 17th, 2010 at 12:47 AM ^
For most of the game the Cocks looked like they did not come to play. Especially their receivers - they dropped so many passes I lost count. I was not particularly impressed.
U Conn was good enough to take advantage of a flat USC team. One advantage over us is that they played a bowl game.
That being said: Michigan 31 - U Conn 27
August 15th, 2010 at 9:04 PM ^
on both ends? what have you seen from uconn that leads you to believe that? and what have you seen from uconn that leads you to believe they are a good team? they beat 6-6 ND and 6-7 south carolina. that doesn't tell me they are a good team
August 15th, 2010 at 10:15 PM ^
I just think that they're better than some of us think. It's not that they're particularly great, but we aren't either. They lost a ton of close games, put up a lot of points last year and are returning a lot on offense. JMHE.
August 15th, 2010 at 3:28 PM ^
38-21. We come out like gangbusters and drop 21 on them in the first quarter while holding them scoreless. The rest of the game we just play it safe as their offense isn't conducive. come backs but rather for sitting on leads, of which they will never have in this game.

August 15th, 2010 at 3:31 PM ^
Michigan 31 UConn 20
Being the first game of the season and against a quality opponent, I think our offense won't be quite as explosive as they will be later in the season. But our defense will play well enough that it won't matter. I think UConn will get their yards (especially on the ground), but they will lack the firepower to put up a lot of points in their offensive system. I think it'll be around a ten point game for most of the contest, with Michigan opening it up to 14 or 17 in the 4th quarter before the Huskies score a meaningless late game touchdown.
Go Blue!
August 15th, 2010 at 3:31 PM ^
Then I say we go take advantage of the one year we might have the unquestioned upper hand on Brian Kelly, ride the momentum wave to 5-0, re-establish our place over MSU to get our bowl game, and then sit back and see just how good a one we can get over the second half of the season.
August 15th, 2010 at 3:50 PM ^
UM's offense will be better this year than it was last year and UConn has nothing close to capable of stopping us. But we can't buy a FG to save our lives (FGs are a problem all season). UM scores five TDs and misses one extra point (early in the game).
UConn is not a quick scoring team (they actually win TOP) and our run defense will be good enough to make them earn every yard and point. UConn scores high teens to low 20s.
August 15th, 2010 at 3:35 PM ^
Michigan kicks to UConn to open the game. Mouton sacks their QB on third-and-long. M scores on its first drive. 31-7 at the half; UConn gets some points as the defense tests out different personnel combinatins in the second half. After the game thousands of haters call me personally to apologize for doubting. I graciously accept their apologies and humbly deflect praise even though it is widely recognized in the national media that my stout faith in the team was a crucial key to victory.
August 15th, 2010 at 3:36 PM ^
A slow game heading into the 4th quarter, Michigan leads 14-10. They'll trade touchdowns the rest of the way, with Robinson scoring on a 60+ yard run with 3:00 left to win it.
August 15th, 2010 at 3:45 PM ^
I think this will be a very tight game from start to finish, and it may be one of those cases where the last team with the ball is going to win.
August 15th, 2010 at 3:46 PM ^
I thinkt he game will be close until the fourth when a big play for Michigan will take the steam out of Uconn and the hungerier team will prevail. WIth Brock leading the team out, the home-opener, and the revealing of the new stadium; there will be too much of a home field advantage. And given the heartbreaking year for Uconn last year, I am not sure how well they will deal with adversity and emotion early this year.
August 15th, 2010 at 3:49 PM ^
I see a surprise hard hitting defensive game ... from Michigan
Good guys 27 - UConn 20
August 15th, 2010 at 3:51 PM ^
Defensive standout Greg Lloyd, one of UCONN's best players, is out for the year.
That was a huge loss for them.
UM - 38 ... UCONN - 24
August 15th, 2010 at 4:13 PM ^
I'm going to second DR's prediction. 38-24 and we start the ball rolling to a great season.

39 to 25, Michigan with the W.
August 17th, 2010 at 3:02 AM ^
Not sure if i'm giving you too much credit (maybe a joke), but 39-25 seems like an odd score for a football game. Hard numbers to achieve with footballs scoring system.
Maybe I'm crazy
August 15th, 2010 at 4:16 PM ^
30-14
August 15th, 2010 at 4:22 PM ^
Michigan wins 38-20. Jumps on UConn early only to let them back in the game in the 3rd. Denard closes the door with two long TD runs in the 4th.
August 15th, 2010 at 4:40 PM ^
With Mealer leading the team out into the stadium and it being the re dedication of the Big House, I see Michigan coming out of the gates strong and not really looking back. Uconn'll score 17, Michigan puts up 42+
All the doubters and haters are only fueling the team, should be a great Saturday.
Go Blue!
August 15th, 2010 at 5:57 PM ^
I hate every player and coach and doubt that they can accomplish anything worthwhile.
Seriously, though, mark me for 34 - 17, Wolverines.
August 15th, 2010 at 4:44 PM ^
I'm sorry, I assumed we were talking about basketball.
If we are talking about football, then switch the scores...and subtract 68 from UCONN
August 15th, 2010 at 4:51 PM ^
42-20
August 15th, 2010 at 5:04 PM ^
Great win as UConn is no worse than the 2nd best team we play before November.
August 15th, 2010 at 5:24 PM ^
U Conn's defenses tongues will be hanging down to their knees by 4th Qtr.
Predict: UM 42 - U Conn 21

Predict UM 42 - U
August 15th, 2010 at 5:30 PM ^
UConn is losing playmakers on offense and defense and Zach Frazier does not make me nervous at all. Also considering how much they struggled against the spread last year, I think we put up 38 on them.
August 15th, 2010 at 5:55 PM ^
I'm expecting a lot of offense from both teams to start the game but a slow second half. Touchdown in the 4th to make it a two possesion game.
Prediction 35-24 Michigan

Jason - check your spelling and grammar. Normally we would expect this from 7th year MSU English majors.

August 15th, 2010 at 8:09 PM ^
UConn is not a bad team and, until proven otherwise, we aren't that good right now. Our offense should be very good especially if Shoelace (can we bring that back) is as improved as they say. Our defense should -- quite honestly -- be worse if anything.
So 41-35 and get used to a lot of games with scorelines like that
August 15th, 2010 at 8:13 PM ^
It will come down to the tangibles and the intangibles IMHO. Mich 56 UConn 0
