Game one score predictions.

Submitted by Firstbase on

Since SB Nation predicted UConn will win against us, I thought it would be fun to record your thoughts on the final score of game one.

My quarter says, Michigan 38, UConn 28.

For most of the game the Cocks looked like they did not come to play.  Especially their receivers - they dropped so many passes I lost count.  I was not particularly impressed.

U Conn was good enough to take advantage of a flat USC team.  One advantage over us is that they played a bowl game.

That being said:  Michigan 31 - U Conn 27

38-21. We come out like gangbusters and drop 21 on them in the first quarter while holding them scoreless. The rest of the game we just play it safe as their offense isn't conducive.  come backs but rather for sitting on leads, of which they will never have in this game.

Michigan 31 UConn 20

Being the first game of the season and against a quality opponent, I think our offense won't be quite as explosive as they will be later in the season. But our defense will play well enough that it won't matter. I think UConn will get their yards (especially on the ground), but they will lack the firepower to put up a lot of points in their offensive system. I think it'll be around a ten point game for most of the contest, with Michigan opening it up to 14 or 17 in the 4th quarter before the Huskies score a meaningless late game touchdown.

Then I say we go take advantage of the one year we might have the unquestioned upper hand on Brian Kelly, ride the momentum wave to 5-0, re-establish our place over MSU to get our bowl game, and then sit back and see just how good a one we can get over the second half of the season.

UM's offense will be better this year than it was last year and UConn has nothing close to capable of stopping us. But we can't buy a FG to save our lives (FGs are a problem all season). UM scores five TDs and misses one extra point (early in the game).

UConn is not a quick scoring team (they actually win TOP) and our run defense will be good enough to make them earn every yard and point. UConn scores high teens to low 20s.

Michigan kicks to UConn to open the game. Mouton sacks their QB on third-and-long. M scores on its first drive. 31-7 at the half; UConn gets some points as the defense tests out different personnel combinatins in the second half. After the game thousands of haters call me personally to apologize for doubting. I graciously accept their apologies and humbly deflect praise even though it is widely recognized in the national media that my stout faith in the team was a crucial key to victory.

A slow game heading into the 4th quarter, Michigan leads 14-10. They'll trade touchdowns the rest of the way, with Robinson scoring on a 60+ yard run with 3:00 left to win it.

I think this will be a very tight game from start to finish, and it may be one of those cases where the last team with the ball is going to win.

I thinkt he game will be close until the fourth when a big play for Michigan will take the steam out of Uconn and the hungerier team will prevail.  WIth Brock leading the team out, the home-opener, and the revealing of the new stadium; there will be too much of a home field advantage.   And given the heartbreaking year for Uconn last year, I am not sure how well they will deal with adversity and emotion early this year.

With Mealer leading the team out into the stadium and it being the re dedication of the Big House, I see Michigan coming out of the gates strong and not really looking back. Uconn'll score 17, Michigan puts up 42+

All the doubters and haters are only fueling the team, should be a great Saturday.

I'm sorry, I assumed we were talking about basketball.

If we are talking about football,  then switch the scores...and  subtract 68 from UCONN

UConn is losing playmakers on offense and defense and Zach Frazier does not make me nervous at all. Also considering how much they struggled against the spread last year, I think we put up 38 on them.

I'm expecting a lot of offense from both teams to start the game but a slow second half.  Touchdown in the 4th to make it a two possesion game.

Prediction 35-24 Michigan

Mich 5 Uconn 2 Uconn ends up 11-1. Our unreal defense happens to be the only ones who can stop them. Both teams end up with a safty, but we kick a 71 yard field goal in triple O.T. Danny Hope then is fired when the farest field goal Purdue makes is a 19 yarder all year.

This is way too early to be making predictions.. How about let's get at least a week before the game before prediction threads. My prediction: At least 5 prediction threads before the season on this game. I'll take the over.

UConn is not a bad team and, until proven otherwise, we aren't that good right now.  Our offense should be very good especially if Shoelace (can we bring that back) is as improved as they say.  Our defense should -- quite honestly -- be worse if anything.

So 41-35 and get used to a lot of games with scorelines like that
