If you had asked me who a likely candidate was for #1 should it be given out, I probably would have said Devin Funchess, so I am glad to see that he will be wearing it - I happen to think that he stands a good shot at a "#1-style season", if you will. That, and it just seems right when it is on someone who can not only produce but hurdle over defenders. Good for Funchess!

It's interesting that the most legendary of Michigan numbers is not an official "Legends" jersey. As a whole it probably deserves the patch, but not just for one player (I think AC would be the closest).

I am glad somebody is wearing it so we can put all the stupid "does he deserve it" discussion to rest.

If so, then #87 < #1, which is an insult to Ron Kramer's jersey. If not, then Funchess is getting downgraded.

I guess... I'm glad that he's wearing a WR number. But what's wrong with giving him #21, the WR number that's actually honored at Michigan?

Every Michigan "fan" and everyone on twitter giving Devin Funchess a hard time about EARNING the #1 jersey can go screw themselves. 3 td in the first HALF against an inferior opponent.

You weren't there for all of Spring and Fall practice and have NO idea what he did during that time. The coaches decided that he EARNED it over the offseason. Eat crow guys.

Funchess is #1, as it should be. I watched all of them, starting with AC. Funchess is a man among boys. The 3 TD's in the first half didn't just happen because of the level of the opposition. He is going to be a monster, a beast, against almost all cornerbacks out there. Because of his play, this is going to help the OL and the running game tremendously.
