Full at DB?
I was doing some reading and came across something interesting not sure if anyone noticed this but Hosley offer was pulled because "were full at DB in this class". I can take this two ways either we pulled his offer because A: we really are full at DB and don't need anymore or B: we're almost full at DB and we pulled it to offer Witty to better our chances with Robinson, which IMO (B) seems the more likely of the 2. Any thoughts guys?

After Hosley's visit to USF, he basically came out and said that that was where he'd be going. M staff probably didn't feel like wasting their time.

Well with at least 2 DB's possibly moving to LB Gordon/Jones from what I've heard, so are we planning on offering A.Witty or are we just going to focus on D.Robinson ya think?

We have offered Witty.

that michigan and kansas st were the only schools to offer both him and Denard. Tennessee was contemplating whether to offer whitty.

Well, Gordon's going to start at WR. And Jones is probably, at least for the time being, going to be a safety. Corner is a bigger need than safety, too.
And Witty already has an offer.

I didn't see Witty had been offered yet but cool. I agree that corner is a bigger need at this point, we'll need the depth when we bring in the Dime package for sure.I'm wondering if Floyd or Woolfolk will start in the Nickel or Turner will get the nod?

I also think Brandon Smith could move to LB, played LB in HS, has some nice size 6'3 210 probably put on some weight in the last year, great speed, wouldn't have a problem covering RB/FB coming out of the back field, just a thought.

yeah but we need Smith at safety. from all reports i have read/heard out of practices all year (except when he was out), this kid is going to be real good, at safety.

into ala Taylor Mays, that could pay BIG dividends.

So it looks like Brandon Smith and Stevie Brown will be our S unless Mike Williams beats one of them out. Cissoko and Warren at CB and possibly Turner and Floyd in the Dime. Obi, Mouton and possibly Evans if someone else don't step up. as far as the D line, it looks like Graham, Martin, Campbell/Sagesse not for sure on our other DE spot. Looks like it can be a pretty nice Defense this year.
Any thoughts guys?

I would actually think that it would be Brown and Williams this year. Smith is supposed to be extremely raw and suspect in pass coverage. Pairing that with Stevie Brown would be dicey, at best.
I'd think JB Fitzgerald would take Thompson's spot over Evans.
Van Bergen is almost certainly the other DE (he played a lot this year as a RS freshman), and while Saggesse/Martin makes sense at DT, I wouldn't be shocked to see Martin/Campbell.

I have one disagreement at each position group. Ryan Van Bergen will be the other DE opposite BG. Fitzgerald will be the SAM linebacker, not Evans. And I think it will be Mike Williams starting at safety unless Brandon Smith can beat him out, not the other way around. Mike Williams got a lot of PT last year, and Smith was redshirted. I think he can and will be good, but it's Williams' spot to lose, IMO.

Haha, I didn't even see you snuck that in there. Looks like we have similar thoughts on the season, or we get our info from the same blog...

I think we're gonna have some good competition this year on D which should show up on the field this year, hopefully anyway. I'm excited to see how we do this year.
