BC is a dynasty at this point.  Might have gone to school there if I could have afforded it (I guess thankfully I couldn't).  I've always liked their school and sports teams.

Minnesota vs. NoDak should be crazy, pretty fierce rivalry.

I likened that game to a Kansas St - Alabama football game. KState is good, but you'd have though talent would win out. Congrats to them, I'll be rooting for them in the final in all likelihood

I think he's been there almost 20 years and this is the first time he's had this kind of success. He might've just stumbled on a good class or two or some good leaders.

Every once in a while a coach gets hot for a year or two and everyone goes "omgmusthave" but I think it's premature. Give it another 2-4 years and I bet Union fades back into the anonymity of your average mid-major college hockey school

All right. I would tend to agree with you to initially avoid a coach who has slim recent success after a long tenure. Bennett seems like a legitimate possibility though, he could recruit the east coast well. I'm still holding out hope for Babcock though.

Bob Daniels has been at Ferris for 20 years.

Both of the NTDP coaches will be getting calls from D-1 programs.

Danton Cole is the U-18 coach and his name is thrown around all of the time, but I don't know if Michigan has a shot at him. He turned down the MSU job when Comley left and it wouldn't surprise me if he took it if Anastos gets let go. The program is much better off now than it was 4 years ago.

Don Granato coaches U-17 and is under the radar to most hockey fans. His player development is outstanding and his team right now could be the best Under-17 team we have ever had.

Rick Bennett is in his third year as head coach at Union and they've been pretty good all 3.  Before that, he was an assistant there for a while, under Nate Leaman (who coached for a while, had a decent year and now is at Providence who has become better).  But he's someone who, if Union does well next year, I wouldn't mind as coach.  And I don't believe he has any significant ties to Union, other than coaching there (he didn't graduate from there), so he might be amenable to a move despite having success there.

Definitely. And it's a huge upgrade for in terms of money and exposure. Unless there's something we're missing I'd say he would definitely consider coming to Michigan, unless his wife wants to stay on the east coast.

Uh...conflict of interest maybe? I've never heard of a non-neutral refs in any tournament hockey

Edit: Now they say there are Big Ten and Hockey East crews here...so they had a Hockey East crew ref BC's game and a Big Ten crew ref Minnesota's?....Did nobody see the easy solution to this obvious conflict of interest?

If it comes between us and MSU for Danton Cole, do you really believe that Hollis could land him over us. We are the greatest college hockey program ever with state of the art facilities while MSU is just another elite program playing in a decaying arena.

Minnesota has basically no offensive zone time this period

and as I say that Minnesota scores. They're lucky they're not down 2-0 instead of up 1-0

I don't think I've ever seen a short-handed winning goal scored in the last second or two of any college or NHL game (though I'm sure it has to have happened).

What were there, 3 N Dakota defenders trying to block that shot, besides the goalie?  Unfortunately, those defenders instead acted as a screen and the goalie appeared to move the wrong way at the last instant, which allowed the puck to just barely squeeze in between his left skate ant the post.

In the end, though, it's a win for B1G Hockey.

That was one of the craziest endings to a game I've ever seen because so unexpected. At least in OT you are on the lookout for a crazy goal, but that!?

Note that I said I feel empathetic, not sympathetic.  Empathetic implies I know how being dong-punched feels in the NCAA tournament.  Sympathetic implies I feel sorry for them, which I do not.
