Friday Posbang

Submitted by Everyone Murders on August 29th, 2014 at 8:42 AM

When the mods tightened up the reins for posting during the season, they did allow for a Friday Posbang thread to throw us a bone.  Football season is upon us, more Notre Dame players are getting in academic trouble, and we're staring a holiday weekend right in the face.  The weekend's shaping up nicely, so bang away!

I am here, and today, by here I mean I am at home. I had taken this day some time ago to get into season mode, but it nearly didn't happen because of the storms that rolled through here on Tuesday. Thankfully, we have done well enough with restorations that I was told that I wouldn't be needed and that I could have my 4-day weekend after all.

All the same, I rolled out of bed at 6:30 AM, but not of my own volition. If my son is any indication, a cinnamon waffle is an urgent need at 6:30 AM on a Friday and there is nothing I can do to extend my sleep much beyond dozing at the kitchen table while he eats it and watches YouTube clips of long-forgotten iterations of Power Rangers. Such is my life.

But savor every second of it!  Time spent with the kids, apart from some rare situations, is almost always time well-spent if not "quality time" by idealistic parenting standards.

One of my kids just eclipsed me in height (I still have him on weight!), and it seems that he grew up pretty quickly despite quite a few Batong Death March mornings spent as you describe.

The name is not technically accurate, but a paraphrase to troll OSU.  (TPeezy's rambling defense of Michael Vick was "Not everybody is a perfect person in the world. Everyone kills people, murder people, steals from you, steals from me, whatever.")  But if there was ever a poster child moment for that team, and a moment that made me glad TPeezy did not come to Michigan, it was when he rocked the Vick eyegrease and uttered those words.

By the way, how is life treating you, now that your O-Line masters have sent you back to a farm?

One of my former owners (I won't mention any names) turned out not to be the type of leader and role model I needed in my nascent stage.  A sheep dog and hen have adopted me at the farm and we have much better chemistry.

I dedicate this posbang to the MMB.   March well.  Play loudly.   Your first notes of the year always cause my spine to tingle.   You are an essential part of college football that makes me happy.

Listening to WTKA all day, going to bed early, and waking up early on game day to head out to Ann Arbor and watch the MMB practice with my little boy. I can't believe game day is almost here. Every summer I try not to wish it away, but everyone who knows me knows that fall is my favorite time of year. Cider mills, Halloween, and Michigan football. There's nothing like it!
