Friday Night NCAAFB Thread - Colorado @ Toledo

Submitted by formerlyanonymous on
Game's not for another couple hours, but it has schadenfreude written all over it. Hawkins guaranteed 10 wins this season, and he's already got one loss to in-state rival Colorado State. They play at Toledo tonight, which shouldn't be very good at all, but could be a tough game for the Buffaloes. Supposedly Toledo is a lot worse this year (lost 52-31 to Purdue last week), but Colorado is only a 3.5 point favorite from the lines I've seen. Hawkins' kid is supposed to start at QB again, and their big running back prospect may or may not play this week. The guy was projected to be huge for them, but he was benched last week for poor pass blocking. Being a Friday game, Toledo is on a day's less rest than normal, while the Buffaloes are even shorter. They played CSU on Sunday, giving them just 4 days to prepare. So what do you think? Can Toledo pull off the upset? Game is on ESPN at 9pm ET.

Man, even on replay... that guy came out of NOWHERE. Who is that guy? He wasn't on the team when I was interning in Toledo's Sports Information office a couple of years ago. Opelt and Collins were, but not him.

"I have heard that people in CO think that Hawk is on the hot seat, and I just don't think that's anywhere close to true." Rrrrright. I think this is the only risible thing I've ever heard out of Franklin's mouth.

Colorado showing signs of life again. If they actually manage to win here, that would simply be amazing. On a more realistic note, I'll give them credit for continuing to fight this late when they're getting blown out.

I feel sorry for Hawkins. Hope he's OK Classless head-hunting by Toledo. No need for that whatsoever. Anyways, I'm now rooting for Colorado. Crap.

Unless the Buffs pull some sort of magical turnaround, it's hard to imagine Hawkins getting another year. They've actually gone backwards since he got there. It doesn't help that there are more than a few CU fans who think Cody doesn't deserve the starting spot at QB. Incompetence + nepotism is never a good combination if you're a coach. I thought he was a slam-dunk hire, but he's been a huge disappointment. First Dirk Koetter flames out at ASU, and now this... what is it about BSU coaches moving up? I wonder if Peterson will break the trend...

That was awful, right down to the last play. ...actually, after the last play. I have no ties to the Buffaloes, but it sort of pissed me off to see Cody walking around on the field smiling looking for someone to high-five. I didn't play Division I football (IT'S THE BIG TWELVE!!!) but when we got our asses handed to us in high school we sure as hell didn't stay around looking for someone on the other team to give some props to. Come to think of it, we only saw a few players in that shot, but you wouldn't have known from the body language that they just lost to a MAC team by 30 points. Some major attitude problems in Boulder. (I know he had just taken a huge shot, but if one of us had a concussion we were under direct supervision of a trainer who made sure we got back on the bus without falling over.)

Sad how far Colorado football has fallen particularly for a school that won a national championship in the 90s. Interesting to see how some of those teams that won in the 90s have fallen. Gtech and Nebraska seem like they're bouncing back, but were down for awhile. Miami and FSU had a couple of rough seasons and are still struggling to get back. Colorado and Washington have both completely imploded.

uhh...kind of awkward...well...we might want to rethink making statements like this for a little while...right...hopefully we beat Notre Dame tomorrow...yeah On a completely unrelated note, it's 2:00 in the morning and my dorm hall is really loud (which is the main reason I'm on this site). As I type this, the RA has finally gotten annoyed enough to shut them up, so I can go to sleep. Yeah, this is generally an hour that I post weird crap at. I should probably stop. Right... And the noise has just picked up again. Ahh...the wonders of alcohol.
