Friday Night Football Open Thread

Two good games tonight, starting right now on ESPN2 is the FCS Championship Game between Delaware and Eastern Washington.

Then at 8 EST is the Cotton Bowl between LSU And Texas A&M.

Post thoughts here as you try to forget that we don't have a coach 3 weeks from signing day. Oops, shouldn't have reminded everyone...

I am really impressed with Delaware's strong fundamentals. The receiver's pass was underthrown, he tried to get the ball, got tipped so he just tackled the DB. That really has to be coached. Even their tackling, they....tackle. A shutout in a NC game? pretty good coach(es)

He didn't play or coach here, but he's spent some time in the neighborhood, and was actually born in Tony Dungy's home town (and mine) right down I-94!  Has been a head coach, assistant in major university program and now DC in a terrific program that's quietly been operating under the radar since the networks forgot to schedule them nationally.  Hmmm...  Do his parents still live here?  Nice to bring all those grandkids home...

Is Les Miles going to be able to recruit the same student athlete he gets at LSU to Michigan? I know he's with the 49ers, but with Harbaugh we knew that he would be able to. I think that is a mistake we made with RR. Even if he can recruit them, will they even qualify? I know it's kind of a messed up thing to say that players in the SEC have a lower intelligence level, but yeah...

I thought they would have hit it up much sooner.  Reported the usual fluff from Les: "I've not been contacted" "I'm having a great time here, why would I leave?"

Yeah, the Jabronis on Fox made it sound like MIles was insulted that he's considered a candidate, mentioning that Bo was a young unkown coach coming out of Miami (Oh.).

Nice to hear the "Les Miles ain't interested" comments during the Cotton Bowl followed by the announcers agreeing that he would be nuts to leave LSU.

DB better have a big sleeve he's hiding something up inside of if we've got recruits deciding this weekend and no head coach.

First off, I don't think Fitzgerald or Pelini were ever approached by Michigan.  I think their names popped up in places like Brian's list of candidates and local reporters asked about the job and got the "I'm not going anywhere" responses you mentioned.

Still, contrast Miles's comments with Harbaugh running away from the microphone.  A guy who says "I think they should hire someone else who isn't like me at all" doesn't sound like a guy I expect to see in Ann Arbor any time soon.

I thought Moose said he (Moose) found it offensive how candidates with any connection to their past U's are assumed candidates, it disrupted the current team. Then separately Miles said in their talks M may not want someone like him, Bo was an unknown etc
<br>But hell, I could have been scratching my balls and missed what you heard

I heard the young Bo comments as "If I was Michigan I wouldn't want to hire me."  That didn't sound like something you say if there's any chance you'll take the job.

I could be wrong.  I will probably be completely punchy until this thing gets settled.  Hoping at Army game tomorrow or b-ball game Sunday.  Otherwise it is going to be a long weekend of "LOL Michigan has no corch!" talk.

b/c I thought 3) was him talking that he was about to go 62-17 over the last six years. In the SEC yo. After turning around a shit Oklahoma State program, during which he beat highly ranked Oklahoma teams in his first 2 years. MNC in there too somewhere, right?

Per Moose Johnston, Les found it "offensive," that he is considered a candidate because Bo was a young coach hired out of the MAC when hired by M. In other words, Les is too good for M.

If you want Les to coach for U-M (if you don't, don't bother answering, no trying to debate that point here), do you want him to win this game?  Moot point now, I realize, since it's a definitive beatdown, but since it is I'm curious if you think it helps us or hurts us?  I can see it both ways.

For that matter, does the fact that it's such a beatdown help even more?
