Friday night drinking thread / House of Cards

What are you drinking tonight and how far have you made it in the season so far? I'm currently drinking a Central Waters / Local Option De Kleine Dood (barrel aged weizenboch). For those of you in Chicago, The Local Option is an amazing pub.

Pineapple Sculpin at the moment.

Waiting on a buddy to get here so we can finally crack one of my Bourbon County Regal Rye.  I'm pumped, I've got a feeling it's going to be deelish.

*as far as HoC...after not having internet all this past year until a few months ago, I still need to watch Season 3.

Ughh yea that sucks about the infections.  I have a coffee still that I'm hopeful will be okay but probably won't.  I can't say I've ever had a truly infected beer before, so I'm guessing it'll be my first.  We'll see...I should probably open it sooner than later.

Again, I'm pumped to try this BC RR!  Opening shortly...

Also, I still have a La Petite Mort from Local Option/Central Waters from 2014..I should open soon!

Sorry for the delay...if you check back:  the Regal Rye was really good.  The base 2015 BCBS was really prevalent, it wasn't an in your face variant like a Cherry Rye, Proprietors (haven't had 2015 Prop yet), Backyard Rye or Coffee.  But it was very solid.  It was split 3 ways and I felt that was enough to give a really good representation of the beer from the pour to it warming up a bit and releasing more flavors.  At times I "think" I was able to pick out some blackberry or cherry but I can't truly say those fruits shown through much (and I really didn't pick up on the Sea Salt).

Very good beer,,,but so is 2015 BCBS fresh, so...

Had that last week finally yes! Was not bad. The first few drinks the taste and aroma was full of watermelon, kind of neat. But as the beer went along that aspect faded and it kind of turned into a malty, double IPA type beer...i.e. okay. (I'm not a huge fan of the big, malty double IPA style...I prefer the singles where hops showcase quite a bit more).

Nah, not like that at all.  More a hoppy-fruit flavor.  I still think Grapefruit sculpin is the best but the Pineapple is decent...no where near the "fruit" presence that the Grapefruit gives though.

And again, the Watermelon Dorado for me was neat at first but leveled off into a malty IPA.  The Watermelon doesn't stick around the entire beer/you get used to it quickly...and again, not in a true, fruity way.

I just finished my third week of teaching at a new school. I love my new job so far.

About to have a smoke and crack open two fourskis of these beers. Let me know what your collective experiences have been with these brews.

HoC Season 4

MGoWifeLA and I are planning to start watching Season 4 tonight after putting the kids to bed. She's sick with the flu though, so we'll see how long she lasts.

Not that a lot of it happens down here in the southern reaches of the Huron River valley, but you do see it in certain spots. At least down by me in southern Wayne county, the little ice fishing that was able to take place is already done, from the look of the river. However, as long as it doesn't look like this...

...I imagine you'd still be doing well enough, at least in theory.

Just starting S4 E1, sipping Rhinegeist's limited release Barleywine with this year's first time Bourbon Barrel Aged variation. Very tasty, very potent. May need to transition into some bourbon neat later on to slow my roll.

Since work, Deschute's Abyss, Oak Aged Hatter, Ellison Sassy Blonde, Oddside Tangerine of my Rye, Woodchuck Private Reserve Barrel Aged with Cherries, and Shorts Bim Bam Boom. All of them were good, but the Shorts was off the mark. Not enough orange or pepper heat to make me happy.
