Friday Night Drinking And Summer is Almost Gone Thread

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

So I wake up from a much-needed power nap to find no friday night drinking thread.  What the heck is going on around here?   We are 13 days from the season opener and we are getting very close to the end of summer.   Yesterday I watched oldest son's football scrimmage and it felt alot more like October up here than mid-August.  Two questions:

1.  Your drink of choice tonight is....

2.   Your plans to squeeze the most juice out of what is left of summer is/are....

Have a great weekend while you watch for surfacing subs.

Having had a first row seat to my boys fusion recovery following a burst fracture I'm feeling for you.  I hope this operation can help you find some pain free days.  How many levels do you have fused?  I would say enjoy the meds but I know they don't even cut thru all the pain initially.  Serious good vibes being sent your way!

I'm drinking parrot bay and diet coke and trying to take it easy cause I work tomorrow.

1.   New Glarus Totally Naked (my go-to summer Wisconsin brew)

2.   Coax more vegetables out of the garden.   Enjoy the late summer weather by watching the sun set every evening from the porch.   Get pumped about my son's impending football opener that happens to share the same evening with Michigan-Utah.

we skipped a garden entirely this year with all the other things going on, but i miss it.  the kids usually come up with some pretty tremendous veggies (garden is their thing each year).

our sweet corn is getting ready to come off, but the field corn has another month at least to mature and then get the moisture down for harvest.

3 2 1 margarita after some Sam Adams. Been sitting by the fire out back but it's been bittersweet since my 5 yr old got stung by a bee tonight so she's a bag of mess. About to go make another Rita. What's another 5 shots of alcohol?

Just smoked a bowl. Gotta snuggle with the gf while she watches Kardasians or something. Small price to pay for football in the fall.

Always a bitter sweet time of the year, happy football is almost here, but sad because I love summer. Tonight, drinking Moscow Mules...watching the Tigers...

1) Just opened a Six Point Sweet Action. Quite good--pleasantly surprised.

B) Heading to a state park with friends tomorrow. Spending some time with the kids this week before they are back in school. But I don't mind that summer is waning--I love the fall, and am looking forward to cooler weather, football, kids playing soccer, the start of a new year (I'm on an academic calendar), etc.

and vegas bombs. Going to get a lot colder in a few weeks here in ND. One of the last hoo-rahs out on the patios. Only good thing about fall is UM football, shooting pheasants everyday and all the mosquitos are gone.

Orange Powerade. Summer is winding down, dove season is almost here. I got the last of the sweet corn today. I picked a pile of yellow beans that were too old. I am letting them dry. I am also doing that with some pole beans. Days are getting shorter already

I'm off for ten days. Two Hearted and Sculpin tonight while grilling kabobs. Sailing LI Sound this weekend, hiking the Gunks Monday and Tuesday, then kayaking the CT shoreline while staying with my rather elderly parents with my sons and my GF. Goodbye, summer, the only nice thing about your departure is college football, right around the corner.
