Freshmen Spring Football Numbers

Submitted by gater on March 13th, 2010 at 7:32 PM

According to Victors Valiant on Twitter, these are the freshmen's numbers for at least the spring.

Devin Gardner #7
Stephen Hopkins #33
Jerald Robinson #83
Austin White #23
Ricardo Miller #82
and Jeremy Jackson #17

Shocker? Shocker!
They also state that "Rumor has it, Tate Forcier to switch to # 4, his old High Scool number."

those who bought the mass produced #4 Brandon Minor jerseys the two years prior to last...(myself included)

I was pissed when Brandon Smith transfered, thinking my jersey was going to be playerless

Tate's number is da bomb

I've got one of those #4s. Bought it at M Den two years ago after the Wisconsin game because it's my lucky number, then saw Brandon Minor establish himself as THE MAN and was happy to have it.

Now I get to watch Tate play with it, and I'm even more stoked.

Lucky number indeed!

Gimme your jersey. Seriously. I'm sick and tired of people crying about how fucking worthless their jersey is just because nobody on the team wears the number or it's assigned to a scrub. Nobody's gonna come up to you at the game and go, "HAHA Nick Sheridan's number, you suck!" Gimme the jersey if you don't want it.

if you want a zetterberg jersey you don't go out and buy an osgood jersey, do you? No, you buy the jersey you want because that is the one you want. He wanted a tate jersey, at least as tate as he could get it without a name on the back, and now it isn't a tate jersey anymore. what is so fucking hard to understand about this?

March 13th, 2010 at 9:59 PM ^

Apples to oranges, dude. Pro team with name on the back vs. college team without. Guess what: It's still a Tate jersey. It's also a Vlad Emelien jersey, a David Underwood jersey, and a John Wangler jersey. It can be a John Whitledge jersey if you want. Is a baseball card worthless when someone gets traded? Why should a jersey be thought of any differently?

March 13th, 2010 at 10:08 PM ^

no,thats pretty stupid actually. first off, what do baseball cards have to do with a football game? do you bring your cards to the game? do you wear them instead of a jersey? second, if he bought the jersey last year, when tate had the number, and if he bought it BECAUSE tate had the number, then it is a tate jersey. just because there isnt a name on it doesnt mean the jersey doesnt signify somebody. do you think a freshman last year bought a #5 jersey cuz he wanted it to signify John Wangler. this isn't fucking rocket science, dude

Typically in college or pro sports people will buy the jersey number of their favorite player.

What's wrong with getting upset if that player changes his number?

I get the "it's still worth something, especially on a college team where the number will get recycled" ideology, but if the people want to be mad - let them be mad. It's their $$$.

If it's any consolation, single-digit numbers are generally worn by high-profile players. Numbers higher than that are more of a crapshoot. My #32 jersey hasn't been repped by many big-timers since Anthony Thomas left.

Is going to start offering an "ish" patch that can be affixed to #5 jerseys, for those who want to keep repping the Force without buying a whole new jersey.

Hoard was one of my favorite players of that time. Very hard to bring down...

Has anyone at Michigan ever run better in tight spaces than Mike Hart? His performance is even better when you consider that, Jake Long aside, he ran in a mediocre O-line era for Michigan (one that continued up through this year). Hopefully that will improve soon.

I can't help noticing that Michigan has had very few truly elite players at that position (meaning consensus All-Americans with Pro Bowl potential). Other than Wheatley and Thomas, I can't think of anyone who had 1000+ yards in an NFL season.

That son of a Gloria LeBron is going to screw up my whole world by switching to No 6. Dammit.

I've had my #7 Devin Gardner jersey in my closet since he was a high school frosh. Nice.

One of my favs from Woodbridge Virginia. Davis was a big time recruit, I remember hearing about him as a HS phenom

EDIT: Huckleby deep Davis close, two tight ends and a balanced line, Ricky "the peach" Leach under center, the ball resting 18 yards in from this the western sideline
