FPI (Football Power Index): Michigan #21

Submitted by Eye of the Tiger on

Due to excessive levels dopamine and endorphins released after watching us maul BYU, I'm posting every ranking--qualitative or quantitative--that indicates our already decent level of quality, and hopefully indicates a broader trend toward "significantly better than decent."

This time it's ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI):

The Football Power Index (FPI) is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team's performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule.

Big 10 Teams in the Top 25-ish

#7 OSU (projected wins: 11.2)

#20 MSU (projected wins: 9.9)

#21 Michigan (projected wins: 8.8)

#27 Wisconsin (projected wins: 9.3)

Rankings to me don't mean anything until late October to early november. Sure if we continue to play like this. Which I think we will. This team looks inspired and they have that winning attitude we've been looking for. The defense alone is just scaring other teams and rivals. I know they are watching. I would much rather be the team that is overlooked. Gives the team that chip on their shoulder. If we continue to play like this. Playoffs are not out of the picture. The schedule is in our favor. Go blue!!
