"would have been" ex-player. I think that may be it for those easily noticeable. The only two I'd seen.
September 27th, 2015 at 9:24 PM ^
IIRC Jeter would've played for Michigan but decided to just go pro instead
September 27th, 2015 at 6:17 PM ^
I saw Vincent Smith after the game rolling around on a skateboard of some sort.
September 27th, 2015 at 6:21 PM ^
hover board/mini Segway-like things? I want one.
September 27th, 2015 at 7:27 PM ^
It is called a Onewheel. Different than the Segway version because you ride it like a skateboard. He sat with me in the game. He had a good time. Funny to see him taking pics on his phone of the field. Also when they played the Great moments in football, or whatever you call it, I told him it would be funny if it was of him. Then sure enough, it was of UTL and one of the highlights was his! I wish I would have recorded him watching his own highlight. Lol.
Also I posted a video of him riding it on his Twitter if you want to see it. He has a new teeshirt design if you want to order one. @VSmithGT
September 27th, 2015 at 7:51 PM ^
yeah, those look really neat and I want one. I thought I'd seen that but didn't say anything, assuming my eyes were deceiving me (going bad ha). Cool story, zero sarcasm. Vincent will always be a fan favorite so I'm sure we'd all like any info/clips/etc you had. Thanks and Go Blue!

Something you will never forget.
September 27th, 2015 at 6:23 PM ^
Saw Austin Hatch while tailgating at the Golf course.
September 27th, 2015 at 6:35 PM ^
Austin isn't really a former player in the same way. He had to essentially retire due to what happened to him and his physical and mental capabilities there after. He's still a student-athlete taking a medical hardship and active with the team.
September 27th, 2015 at 6:37 PM ^
Thanks. That clarification was definitely needed.
September 27th, 2015 at 7:19 PM ^
So is he "a student-athlete" or is he "isn't really a former player "?! Please clarify!
September 27th, 2015 at 11:31 PM ^
If you got hurt and couldn't play with your teammates any more, you're still a part of the team. I had the opportunity to get close to and mentor Austin quite a bit this summer, so this coming straight from interactions with him and the rest of the basketball team. He is still a member of the team and "one of the guys" and treated as such. I wouldn't consisder him a "former player" until he graduates or becomes a grad assistant, but to some that's just semantics. Either way he is still a student athlete for U of M even if his capacity for being an athlete on the court in an official game has been hindered by his past and is treated as such by the academic support staff for athletes as well.
September 27th, 2015 at 9:41 PM ^
He played in games. I'm pretty sure playing makes you a player. I could be wrong though.
Also, I don't know all the celebrities and former players who were down there, but I hope Hackett charged them good money for sideline action. This ain't no charity. #BLL

I didn't know you were on MGo. Hi.
September 27th, 2015 at 6:26 PM ^
Bitch
September 27th, 2015 at 6:29 PM ^
I found it funny when they showed Jeter and then the same time BYU gets there longest play of the gmar
September 27th, 2015 at 6:33 PM ^
There were lots of older players tailgating, but I don't know their names (before my time). Anthony Carter was wearing a name tag, though.
September 27th, 2015 at 6:41 PM ^
but I've seen Jehu Chesson like 5 times in the past week. Dude is stalking me... or I am him....
September 27th, 2015 at 6:43 PM ^
Jeter is just a famous U-M fan, right? He never attended U-M, correct?
September 27th, 2015 at 6:44 PM ^
I think he went to Western
September 27th, 2015 at 6:44 PM ^
He attended for one term before going to the Yankees
September 27th, 2015 at 6:54 PM ^
Enrolled but never attended is what I've always been told when thinking he did a semester
September 27th, 2015 at 7:17 PM ^
but never actually played for Michigan.
September 27th, 2015 at 8:10 PM ^
He completed a semester before Steinbrenner signed him.
September 28th, 2015 at 12:35 AM ^
Yes, I know - I copied a piece from MGoBlue below.
It was a buckeye who ..in trying to claim LeBron asserted that Jeter enrolled but never attended. I said he attended a semester but didn't really care enough to argue about it since LeBron never attended OSU.
September 27th, 2015 at 11:53 PM ^
He definitely attended for that semester. We had a psychology class together and were partners for a research project.
September 27th, 2015 at 6:47 PM ^
You know, Jeter is just one of those Wal-Mart wolverines you hear about.
September 28th, 2015 at 8:45 AM ^
that can't smell the sacasm from this post?
It's stronger than clove cigarettes!
September 27th, 2015 at 6:57 PM ^
Somebody on the board posted a story about living down the hall from him in the dorms for a little while before being called up by the Yankees. Not quite sure who it was or which thread, just remember reading it.

I can confirm your story confirming someone else's story. Said Jeter was wearing a yakee medallion. Asked sarcastically if he played for Yankees or something and Jeters friend said yeah he does. Or something like that
September 27th, 2015 at 9:42 PM ^
6 downvotes? Some people are really touchy about Jeter I guess haha.
September 28th, 2015 at 8:36 AM ^
Must be the NY crowd/Yankees fans LOL
September 27th, 2015 at 7:04 PM ^
Yeah it was 'Shanghai' something who said Jeter lived at the end of his dorm hall in Markley.
The more time that passes, the fuzzier the Jeter details get. That said, he's a lot more Wolverine than LeBron ever was a buckeye.
September 27th, 2015 at 7:08 PM ^
From MGOBLUE.com article from August 2014
"He took classes at Michigan in the fall semester of 1992 after playing in the minors for the Yankees, and registered again for the next fall. However, when the Yankees asked Jeter to play in the Instructional League in 1993, he withdrew from classes and didn't return to college."
September 27th, 2015 at 7:47 PM ^
What a loser! Drops out after one semester. How's he expect to ever land a good job?
September 27th, 2015 at 10:29 PM ^
Yeah. Next thing you know, he'll start hanging out with that other dropout named Madonna. I swear, those two will never amount to anything.

During one of the TV timeouts they had a recognition for the 1981 Rose Bowl team so there definitely a number of former players there. I heard AC was going to be there for that.
September 27th, 2015 at 7:20 PM ^
When are they going to invite Iggy Pop to hang on the sideline? "Enrolled, but never attended."
September 27th, 2015 at 7:26 PM ^
Keep winning and bring all the greats from from the University of Michigan back.. This is great and the crowds energy level is also such an improvement. The moral is greatly improved.
September 27th, 2015 at 8:36 PM ^
This team held their 35th reunion dinner on Friday and a tailgate yesterday. There was a great turnout of former players from this team, with some of the big names being guys like Anthony Carter, Bubba Paris, Ed Muransky, John Wangler, Rich Strenger, and more.
September 27th, 2015 at 8:28 PM ^
Me. I was there!
September 27th, 2015 at 9:03 PM ^
