Again... Ross adds another great Michigan player to his roster!

Who were the others? Chad Henne, Jake Long? Honestly, the Dolphins are much better without them.

Better without Jake Long? I was under the impression he is around the elite level at LT. I don't watch a lot of NFL so I could be wrong.

when he played. Very happy for him, and wish him much success!

The Phinsider has a short piece on that - LINK - including the reason it is happening, of course:
The Miami Dolphins are bringing back safety Jordan Kovacs to fill the void left in the secondary following the torn pectoral muscle suffered by Michael Thomas this past Sunday. Kovacs had been on the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad, originally signing with Philly back in October.

Good article that details his NFL history, which was being signed by the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent, spending time on both practice and active squads.
But if he was taken from the Eagles' practice squad, he has to be signed to the Dolphin's active roster.
Practice squad players are free to sign with other NFL teams, assuming they are signed to the 53-man active roster ("poaching"). A practice squad player cannot be signed to another practice squad.
He could be placed back on the practice squad after a certain number of games active, but they have to cut him first and let him clear waivers. Let's hope he has Patrick Omameh's path: being "poached" by Tampa Bay from the 49ers' practice squad. He's now their starting right guard.

What's the point of putting former Michigan walk on in the title?
I think he earned: Jordan Kovacs signs with Miami

Kinda makes the story a little more exciting. A walk on playing pro football, while many 4 and 5 stars and sitting on their couches thinking about what coulda been.

He hopefully does what he did at Michigan and earns a starting spot in the not so distant future.

Miami is kind of loaded in the secondary. Hopefully he can still showcase himself.

He's so cool. He'll always be one of my favorite all-time players, just always showing up in the right spot

Kovacs is the Jamie Moyer of safeties.

Nice!! one of the best walk ons to ever play at Michigan

The best compliment we could pay Kovacs is to recognize him for being a good football player at Michigan and not almost solely by how he got there. Do we refer to Martavious Odoms solely as someone who made it to Michigan from downtrodden Pahokee, ignoring what he did on the field? Will Kovacs ever be elevated from 'former Michigan walk-on' to the much grander, but simpler, 'former Michignan player'?

He embraces the "walk-on" label, going as far as referring to himself as a member of "Walk-on Nation". He knows it's not who he is, but what everyone thought of him, and likes to remind people of that -- both as motivation and source of inspiration.

Well technically, Kovacs was a scholarship athlete for most of his career. He earned it going into his sophmore year. Anyway, awesome to see him getting a shot in the NFL, and good to see a fellow Hungarian Wolverine living the dream. Would love to see him come back and coach at Michigan whenever his playing career winds down.

with them last year and got signaficant PT? they must've had an injury and liked him.

He "played in nine games" but he recorded all of one tackle. I didn't see the games so that could mean anything. He could've been in as few as nine plays, or special teams where his style of play is a complete waste. Or he could've had just one tackle because the Miami defense kept things in front of him. Given it's Miami, and he was a rookie, I'm guessing he was used sparingly. No offense in the NFL would be intimidated by a UDFA rookie. They're probably again signing him for depth.
For what it's worth, it was a beautiful form tackle short of the first-down marker of an RB that had gotten past the linebackers. Kovacs is still the Last Line of Defense.

The hell with the Dolphins. I wish he was still here.
