I'm just so confused. That (Taiwanese?) anime game recap video from some years back was weird, but that was like a news outlet thing. This is apparently a former world leader, from the other side of the globe and who seemed to hate the US, commenting on an in-state (American) football rivalry. Makes no sense whatsoever.

Maybe Harbaugh is going to the Iranian version of Dennis Rodman to Kim Jong-un? /s (but I'm so confused only sorta /s)

I want to describe how this happened, but I guess I realize any replies are going to get political (so please don't do that).

It seems, tracing it back, that it started with Ahmadinejad tweeting support to Colin Kaepernick.  A while after that, Kaepernick either tweeted appreciation for Harbaugh as a coach or somebody sent a tweet linking the two of them together; I'm not sure which.  So somehow Ahmadinejad seems to have correlated support for Kaepernick and support for Harbaugh's current team.

So...that's how this started.  No politics.

As Alton said, it is connected to Kaepernick. Ahmadineshit, and the Ayatollah and Iranian pols at large, has been taking a page out of the Russian playbook and tweeting about things that divide Americans, like Colin Kaepernick's protests.

Mahmoud recently took to twitter to talk about Kaepernick. Someone (strangely) tweeted back to Ahmadinejad about Michigan for some reason, and he replied and now he's talking about us.

Whoever is running his account (probably an intern) clearly knows a fair bit about American cultures: he tweeted Tupac lyrics on the anniversary of the founding of the Black Panthers or something like that. I'd bet that whoever is actually tweeting spent some time in the US, maybe did a college degree or something here.

Plus, of course, the Michigan Team watched 300 last week and just beat up on the Spartans...so....well, you can do the math.

I would guess he's just shifting into his post political university career and trying to gain some street cred with one of the world's greatest universities.

This could be very entertaining if it were coming from some other former foreign leader. But this person needs to focus elsewhere. Reading a history of Europe during WWII might be a good choice.
