Former Brandon crony takes shot at Brian at 12:30am

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

In case you aren't on twitter and missed this hilarious exchange, I thought I'd give a recap.

So, this guy. Brian was tweeting about the DB/Hoke era yesterday and some guy sent this tweet to him and then deleted it 15 seconds later.

Unfortunately for him, I screencapped it.

Brian quoted the tweet here mentioning the guy's profile

this guy's job is literally "Senior Manager of Brand Activation." https://t.co/OQVTbNAy5q

— mgoblog (@mgoblog) June 21, 2015

He works for the Phoenix Suns if you look at his twitter page.

After a quick google search, this guy not only works with Lochdawgg who is also with the Phoenix Suns, but he was a marketing guy at Michigan under Brandon.

Seems to me that Brandon's people knew alllllll about MGoBlog. So much so that they still think about it. I wouldn't be surprised if they had someone monitor the site.

Also: let's keep in mind that this guy tweeted Brian at 12:20am on a Saturday.

That right there tells you he was a Brandon guy. Must all have that instinct to blast off hottakes and press statements near 1am.

MGoTwitter reacts

A guy from the Lochdawgg tree tried to big-time @mgoblog on behalf of Dave Brandon after midnight on a Saturday. The internet is amazing.

@mgoblog Wait, did he already delete that tweet? That’s not brand activation of you ask me.

— Mark David (@The_MDA) June 21, 2015

@mgoblog @ChrisJKaiser This might be the best thing that has ever happened on twitter.

@ChrisJKaiser @mgoblog quit drinking and go to bed

Sure, if you measure success by money made.  Which was the whole problem with Brandon and his cronies.  What a bunch of narcissistic assholes.

I'm sorry if this is unpopular but...what's the big deal with his tweet?  I mean I guess he didn't need to make it personal at the end, but he stated an opinion... in the country I live in, I'd like to think that's okay.   Brian is a big boy, I think he can handle it...no?

Well, didnt the OP just say this was in response to a tweet from Brian?  Who by the way, posted it at 12:09AM:

"Hoke era basically "army of PCP-crazed dingoes trying to fuck a space wallaby" y/n

Which, I have no idea what any of that means but it sounds provocative to me.  I guess he's taking a re-take on his DB Obit.. but if you're going to judge this guy for his tweet, at least paint the full picture.  Twitter is hard enough to follow (when there's back and forth convo).

Don't just give half the information.

The full picture seems to be that the marketing geniuses who hijacked Michigan athletics and ran the program into the ground because of their hubris and prioritization of image over substance are butthurt over a website that called them on their shit.

Actually they put the AD $8 million in the hole, with a terrible coaching hire in Hoke. If it wasn't for Harbaugh having the desire to coach here (as awesome as Hackett is, you don't negotiate with a guy like Jim. Jim does whatever the hell Jim wants. Hackett just asks him - "how much would you like to be paid to coach here").

The athletic department has a serious solvency issue, if we had a mediocre hire, Football would be in seriously bad shape with how OSU/MSU are doing right now.

So yeah, Brandon and Ilk - please write a check for the hole in our budget you managed to create before talking about personal gain.

If you define "success" by tanking a Fortune 1000 company, destroying the brand of the 3rd-largest athletic department, drawing the ire of thousands of people to the point where they are demanding your firing in the streets, and then running away with a golden parachute to head up a toy company, yes, Brandon is more successful.

Not so sure history will write that because the dying days of capitalism are and will be killing the livability of the planet so there won't be anyone left to write or read the history.

All I can say is that I am sad that I missed the fun on this one - I was up at the time, but away from Twitter and everything else. I find it rather funny, however, that he chose to snipe at Brian about eight months too late, as a few others have mentioned.

What it says to me is that they probably were well aware that this site was a hotspot for massive discontent (and rightfully so) last fall. Part of me would love to know what they thought about what they were reading, but then I'd have to listen to someone who has Brand Activation in their title speak.

I didn't realize this guy defined success as running a large multinational company into the ground, and managing to alienate one's self and earn the hatred of nearly everyone in Michigan fandom.

I know/knew that guy...like seriously. Small world. I knew both he and his girlfriend from his grad school days at UCF. I remember when he accepted the job/internship at Michigan.

Good stuff.

Lol guy made a mistake and deleted it. As a fan base can we move forward? We are in better times now, let's forget about the DB stint.

I used to think Brian was a little crazy, unstable and not accurate.

However, I know now that he is pretty smart, and usually dead-on over the long term with his opinions.

Its interesting that the Phoenix Suns marketing guy, is in AZ which is where Brandon has a home, allegedly.

Perhaps he is Brandon's protege....

Talk about not giving it up... Brandon is worth millions. You're worried about a former associate tweeting at 9:00 local time and screenshotting it within 15 seconds. Seems to me that you're more obsessed with "cronies" than anything. HE AND ALL FORMER ASSOCIATES ARE NOT WORTH OUR TIME. WE ARE THE WINNERS BECAUSE WE HAVE HARBAUGH.

Very petty on the Phoenix Suns guy's part.

What does Brian get out of it? He was right about DB. I think we all wish that regime had gone differently.

And WD you included your own tweet?

Perhaps someone who went to Central Florida University isn't in the best position to be telling Brian or anyone else about U of M or success.

If you want to measure it by money, Steve Ballmer is ridiculously successful. But all he REALLY is is a business/marketing guy who got amazingly lucky to latch onto Bill Gates. Once Gates was gone, he made terrible decisions as Microsoft's CEO. His reign as CEO was anything but successful. So just being a CEO who made millions/bllions doesn't guarantee you are some brilliant successful person. Sometimes just being in the right place at the right time is more important. I guess if your bank account is all that matters then measuring success becomes easier. Brandon is rich. Good for him. That doesn't really guarantee he is actually good at his job.
