Forde spits fire re: Meyer
Pat Forde had this gem in a story all about why OSU tends to rollover and die when somebody punches them in the mouth...
"It would seem difficult for players to draw much inspiration in difficult situations from a head coach who looks like he’s physically ill. You wonder if all the August Zach Smith drama has taken an internal toll on an already fragile narcissist."
He's right. But, that is a somewhat surprising personal shot at Urban Meyer. I guess that I'm glad people are seeing the truth. As Meyer's brittle facade crumbles, I wonder...is Dantonio's next?

I like the idea... I'm not ready to count Urbs out yet.

As of right now, this is basically last year's Iowa loss again. And, based on how that turned out, I think it's premature to declare that the foundation is now crumbling.
Now, I do think Saturday night showed some serious issues with mental toughness among OSU players. That team absolutely quit once they realized they were going to have to overcome some adversity. I mean, they didn't even want to return a live kickoff by the end of the game. That was one of the craziest things I've ever seen in a football game. But I think they quit in the Iowa game last year as well. That's how both of these games got so out of hand.
I hope I'm wrong. I hope it's all coming apart just like it did in Gainesville. But that was too similar to what we saw in Iowa City last year for me to believe it just yet.

All signs pointing to this ending exactly the way many of us predicted when Urban was hired. And we were called slappies for it.
October 22nd, 2018 at 11:50 AM ^
The whole Zach Smith thing has just been so deserved for OSU. Had they fired Urban before the season, they could have (1) looked great in this #metoo environment, (2) probably gotten out of paying his buyout, and (3) given Day an audition year before possibly offering him the HC job if he did well.
Instead, they cost themselves a ton of credibility as an academic institution, bending over backward to absolve Urban, then he's flopping around the sidelines with a headache and getting blown out by Purdue.
I don't know if this is the end for Urban at OSU, but it seems to be getting closer.
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:53 PM ^
Agree but they refused to admit fault and not take the one year bowl ban with Tressel which cost them 12-0 first year with Urban. Save face and go to the Gator Bowl?

Karma is a bitch.
October 22nd, 2018 at 11:52 AM ^
You might have gotten mixed in with the real slappies at that time, who were saying Meyer was way overrated as a coach
October 22nd, 2018 at 11:54 AM ^
That's possible, but there were many users here (some I still very much respect) who called us delusional. It's okay. I understand why they would think that. But I'm still going to take this opportunity to gloat.
October 22nd, 2018 at 11:53 AM ^
Going to Columbus and beating them in their cooler is there for the taking.
I firmly believe this is the team to get the job done.
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:00 PM ^
Agreed. And if we can come out hot with a couple quick scores, it just might be a blowout.
Fuck, Purdue did it. Why not us?
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:56 PM ^
I personally cannot wait to hear the booing in the Horseshoe when this happens. From my perspective, it will be of biblical proportion by that time. The underlying hate grows every Saturday!
October 22nd, 2018 at 11:53 AM ^
FWIW there is a rapidly growing undercurrent amoungst OSU faithful here in Ohio that this will be Meyer's last year in Columbus. Seeing people talk about everywhere and the general sentiment is that the events of last summer took a huge emotional/mental toll on Meyer and that he's just going through the motions this year at best since his return.
I think a lot will depend on how the season ends. If they lose to MSU and us on top of the ass whipping they just took at Purdue it wouldnt surprise me a bit to see him move on.
Oh...and for the FIRST time since he was hired there is a LOT of talk about how they expect Michigan to finally win in Columbus this year. I've never heard that before now.
October 22nd, 2018 at 11:58 AM ^
It's a good start.
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:00 PM ^
Undercurrent??? Didn't you know its already happening? The Regents let him know he will finish season but will be jettisoned... and if he doesn't they will not pay him based on the things they are hiding at the moment.... so he will claim medical issues, and leave.... maybe go to the Browns in the NFL....
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:14 PM ^
As bad as OSU is looking, how could Sparty ever beat that team?
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:25 PM ^
MSU sucks and I hate Mork, but he almost always puts together a gritty team. Shit weather and an iron will to win seem to be his formula for beating OSU/Michigan.
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:46 PM ^
in 2016, Staee lost to OSU by 1 point at home, 17-16.
October 22nd, 2018 at 6:34 PM ^
Fuck them both, I hope a meteor hits the stadium in EL and takes out both teams. That being said, I just want UM to go to Indy, so if MSU beating OSU is what it takes, I’m down with that.
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:16 PM ^
If they lose to MSU, he needs to step down immediately.
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:22 PM ^
You can tell osu doesn't deal well with adversity

Please update on Michigan jersey sales.
October 22nd, 2018 at 1:42 PM ^
See below, apparently I should have scrolled further and replied to your post.
October 22nd, 2018 at 1:39 PM ^
That's great news. I love that they are nervous. I went to Sears and Kmart but couldn't find any Michigan jerseys. The clerks told me they were sold out. Sounds like the tide might be turning.
October 22nd, 2018 at 3:37 PM ^
I too am in Ohio and haven't heard much about Meyer leaving, but when you look at it close it makes a bunch of sense. He has the blood clot or whatever medical issue and if he walks away after the year it is on his terms. Maybe he made an inside deal with the school to walk away and not collect his remaining years if they don't hang him out to dry.
October 22nd, 2018 at 11:55 AM ^
as much as i hate ohio state, i don't think that turn of phrase is called for. meyer looks ill because the zach smith thing took a toll on a fragile narcissist? there are probably about 50 things to look at in the OSU program besides meyer's anxiety level that would fix issues.
reminder we did the same thing last year about harbaugh. "harbaugh looks and sounds miserable. maybe it's his hip/leg, see him limping? maybe it's his kid at home who might be ill. maybe it's his marriage, maybe he doesn't want to coach here anymore. etc. etc."
or maybe harbaugh knew the team and coaching staff was not in a great place last year and it was a lost year in his mind. maybe meyer knows his team is having a dip and he's reacting the same way.
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:26 PM ^
Fair points, but Harbaugh was in the midst of an 8-5 season last year and having incredibly bad luck. As of Saturday at 7pm EDT, Urban Meyer was coaching an undefeated team and looked like he was about to die during the pregame interview with ABC. No kidding, he looked like a mummy.
October 22nd, 2018 at 11:42 PM ^
Absolutely this. Humans are great at pattern recognition; we suck at determining correlation vs. causation.
"Opposing Team's coach is unhappy. I want him to leave. Therefore, his unhappiness means he will leave. Can't be anything else."

Its starting to become obvious that everyone outside of Ohio knows what Urban and ohio state is . Disgusting and pathetic.
October 22nd, 2018 at 11:58 AM ^
I think that's a little unfair. It's probably just his memory condition flaring up again, as it has very visibly since early August.
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:08 PM ^
I've seen OSU lay an egg approximately once each year but manage to stay relevant in November. I hope their program turns into to a giant flaming pile of tires, but it's one loss.
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:27 PM ^
Same. They are still one of the most loaded teams in the country and I expect them to be the favorite against every team they play outside of Bama. Make no mistake, every team has bad games. Purdue has a completely different approach to offense than Michigan.
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:09 PM ^
OSU can do way better than Dantonio. Wouldn't be surprised to see Day or Fickell in charge next year.
October 22nd, 2018 at 1:13 PM ^
I would personally LOVE to see LF back in Columbus.
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:09 PM ^
Meyer has a cyst in his head that (I think) causes recurring headaches. I’m no fan of his, but he may be suffering for reasons that have nothing to do with his character.
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:19 PM ^
"Reasons that have nothing to do with his character."
Unless you believe in karma.
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:27 PM ^
I don't want to wade into the big debate, but I find the Meyer = Evil narrative tiresome and obviously simplistic. If he is going through some health thing, let's hope he has a full recovery (in time for the beatdown at the Shoe).
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:13 PM ^
I am not a bit worried about Urban. I have utmost confidence that he has already forgotten this happened.
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:15 PM ^
As much as I hate Mork, I don't see him crumbling and wimpering like a whipped puppy. Naw, he's much more likely to go like a rabid dog, foaming at the mouth and growling and snapping at everything in his path, until his head explodes.
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:18 PM ^
I tried to gloat to my OSU buddy at work this morning. He's resigned to the fact that we're winning The Game this year and that this may be Meyer's last season.
Ruined it for me.
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:34 PM ^
What about the staee jabroni that got recently hired???
Hopefully you started the conversation with the "How you doin"
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:38 PM ^
I completely ignored him.
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:40 PM ^
Perfect
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:25 PM ^
We'll see how OSU performs in their next game. Nebraska. Frost could really put a nail in the coffin of Meyer at OSU. Then MSU and Maryland. They could easily rebound with those 3 easy games lined up.
OSU has a bye week, which can be very bad in allowing negative emotions to permeate with no game to focus/ use to take out frustrations.
October 22nd, 2018 at 1:31 PM ^
Neb won't be an easy game for OSU. Neb can throw the ball and they have a good dual threat. Not sure if there will be an upset but if they go down by two scores, I will not surprised if OSU players quit on him, again.
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:35 PM ^
I don't agree with those that are shitting on Urban Meyer and loving him having health issues. Feels to me like most of our fan base supports this because he's beaten our ass, not actually bc of the Zach Smith stuff. I wish for them all to be healthy and for our team to push their shit in when we arrive in Columbus fair and square.
October 22nd, 2018 at 12:41 PM ^
Honestly, I've never understood this. I don't care if we beat Urban Meyer, Ryan Day, or Alfred E. Neuman. Excuse-making will come fast and furious regardless. That's the nature of 1) rivalries and 2) the internets. All we have to do is bask in the win. There are no asterisks in the record book next to the win over Fickell. It's just a win.
If we win because the whole OSU team is barfing last night's team dinner all over the sidelines, we win and we probably get to go to the CFP and it goes right in the record book and the Ohio fans have to spend all year wishing that hadn't happened. And personally I'd enjoy it every bit as much. There's no asterisks or extra points for excuses.
