Fitz and Clark's names removed from lockers

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Just got back from my private Michigan Stadium tour as a birthday gift. I HIGHLY recommend it, Bill Austin, gives the tours and they're definitely worth the $100. Absolutely amazing. Got to go into the skyboxes, suites, lockeroom and onto the field. Even got to see the Little Brown Jug and Heisman from Desmond.

Something that really alarmed me was the locker of Fitz Toussaint. It read #28 and the nameplate that would say his name was replaced with the blank they use for lockers not in use. (Pictured)

Upon seeing this, I went over to where #57 should've been for Frank Clark. The only #57 there was for Elliott Mealer. There wasn't even an empty locker between him and #58 Chris Bryant.

Not sure what this means, neither did Bill. Maybe the players have to earn their names (or in Clark's case, his locker) back into the locker room. You decide...

Also on on a sidenote, Drake Johnson will wear #29 and Sione Houma will wear #39.

Also here is what the B1G logos look like on the field now that they're finished. The B is not Blue, it is actually transparent and is green turf colored.

That could be part of their punishment. Like when Tate had his wings taken off. This is probably a symbollic way of saying they have to earn their way back on the team.

Wow, interesting to contrast this info. with what Hoke said about not addressing it with the team as whole, so as to not take focus from the team.

Great stuff though, thanks for sharing.

Pretty sure Stonum still had a locker all of last year (at least when I saw it).  Might mean bad news...

IMO this means that Fitz will still be on the team and Frank will be back in Glenville where he can use all the nasty words on his twitter account again.

I will be taking 45 preschoolers on said tour next week!  Schools and non-profits are $2/person.  This will be our second year taking kids to the stadium - very memorable for all!

Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll take my MSU and OSU cousins. I'm sure they'd love it!! ....on second thought, that would be as bad as an atheist walking into church!!! I'll leave them at home!

Now this is a post!  First hand information with pictures to back it up.  So refreshing after wading through these long threads analyzing some kid's cryptic tweet to nowhere.  Thank you.

EDIT: double post, sorry!

DOUBLE EDIT:  I'm at work now (XP, IE8) and feel stupid for having even asked about the pictures yesterday because, low and behold, there they are right inline with the OP.  No idea why I wasn't able to see them last night on my MBA running Chrome (it wasn't even showing a broken image icon, an obvious gap, etc).  Feel free to reply to this if you have any ideas or insights as to what the problem may be because I'm stumped!

On a seperate note I don't like seeing anyone other than a corner wear 29 these days. I wish Blake would have snatched it.

I doubt the players have even been in the stadium that much so far. It would be much more significant if it was in the locker room in Schembechler. Plus things like that get stolen or the player takes them home after every year (I know several people who do this).

It's the logo of the conference that Michigan belongs to and it absolutely belongs on the field. Most of the other B16 schools already had the old logo with the cryptic 11 on their fields and I like the solidarity and brand building that it accomplishes. It's not an advertisement because advertisements are not allowed in Michigan Stadium.
